245/40 R20 (F) and 275/35 R20 (R) on F10
I have a 2012 ActiveHybrid 5, which chassis-wise is supposed to be identical to the 535i. It has 20" Dealer option v-spoke 356 wheels, 8.5"F 9" R. Don't know the offset.
I am looking at going 245/40 R20 (F) and 275/35 R20 (R), which will add a little under an inch to the diameter. I've seen posts of people using this setup on a 550 with no problems, but has anyone used this setup on a 535? I don't know if there is any difference on front suspension between the 535 and 550, which is why I ask. Wheel wells look big enough, but the spring on front looks pretty close already on the 245/35's it has now. |

245/40-20 will fit up front on your ActiveHybrid 5. The part that is closest to rub the tire is the steering knuckle, but the steering knuckle is the same on all F10 models.
The attached image show 8.5x20" ET32, 255/40-20. Less than 1/10" clearance with the car on the lift and rubs with the weight on the wheels. Your tire suggestion has 1/6" shorter sidewall so there is some margin. |

Thanks for the response I wanted to run this same setup also, I currently have 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 in the back, I live in nyc and these potholes are crazy over here. I really feel like I need a little more cushion. Glad to hear this works, I will post pics of the 245/40 setup when i get it installed.
