Launch Control @ 900miles :)

Ok so Tonight I tried using Launch control.. Alan and I were debating on how this will work and his kids being in the car was / is preventing him from trying.

So I tried it tonight. Didnt think it will work... read somewhere you needed 1200miles.

Anyways, Held down break/ Hit sports + put shifter in S mode.

Pressed gas both break down at same time.. Yellow flag lit up bottom right of dash. let go of the break, and BOOOOOM. tires broke lose a bit, then i was off.. NO turbo lag like taking off by just pressing gas.. and car pulled strong.. felt much stronger then normal, shifts hit harder.. also felt harder then usual.

Repeated 1 more time.. then parked the dark knight back in my garage.

Anyone else with a 14 try this yet.??

Alan your turn buddy.

-Marcus

I'll test mine out this weekend, weather permitting... can we maybe post times to see numbers for 0-60?

Nice!

Def. going to try mine out at some point this weekend! Glad to hear there isn't that delay right off the line that we feel just by pressing the gas pedal.

When you press the gas pedal did you floor it all the way down? How high does the revs go up to before it stops?

WOW! Tried this earlier today at a red light on the way to work. Never thought I'd use it, but it may just have become my favorite feature of the car. Instant acceleration with no hesitation or lag whatsoever. I've never been in a jet launched from an aircraft carrier's catapult, but I imagine it's something like this (but on a much grander scale).

Yes car feels way faster this way all the way through even after launch right??

I just wish it was like the m5s lc where you hold shifter up and let go.. instead of slamming break down..

feels like the cars pc goes in insane mode when u use launch control as oppose to just flooring it.

ps how many miles?

No clue... Have not really think this through. Maybe others have suggestions. Maybe I'll use my stop watch.

There are a lot of smartphone apps for both iOS and Android that will do 0-60 timing using the phone's accelerometer and gps. BMW has one for iOS called BMW M Power.

I might try launch control to see what it's like but I bought my car and don't want to put unnecessary strain on the drive train. Anyone remember the time interval BMW recommends between launches to allow the drivetrain to cool down? I know, I know,

Didn't realize non-M cars have this!?

You're not supposed to use it too often though, as it does damage, right?

I mean if it was extremely bad they wouldn't put it on the car. or allow you to do it untill the ecu allows you too. But i know for a fact using this wont get you good gas mileage.

Did this twice tonight. Super easy to do.

Put the car in Sport+ mode
Shifter in S mode
Press the brake and gas at the same time
Release the brake and hold on

How does it feel? WOW!

The car only revs up to 2K for LC and it takes off with a little wheel spin. Once you get to redline in 1st the shift into 2nd feels like you just hit the nitrous switch. I'd def feels faster compared to just mashing the gas pedal no question. No initial lag and that shift into 2nd just rockets the car forward.

Finally. Its crazy how the car feels when you do this. IDK what happens in the ECU department but car goes into BEAST MODE. for damn sure.

glad you finally did it. btw.. 2k seems low but its still takes off real fast with lil spin so whatever.

Is this possible on a 2013 535i (MSport, RWD, SAT)? Or will I burn out the transmission or something?

I think all F10 LCI models has this, at least I saw a 530d on youtube with LC.

I don't know if the effect of the LC is so big on the diesel as on the 550i though.
