F10 wipers

How long on average before wipers need changing? with my E60 it was way over 2 years before I needed a new set with our Irish weather, with my current F10 just over a year and my 1st service couple of weeks ago, not sure if the F10 wipers are not as good as the old E60 and new X3, or is just my set of wipers, because I definitely find my wife X3 wipers more effective, her car is 4months older than my one.
In other words do I change the type of wipers when getting a new one or stick to the same model on the basis this is normal.

Mine was still good for 2 yrs ... but I just recently changed car ... I would think it's probably good for 1 more yr or even stretching to 2 yrs before it needs to be changed.

I tend to change mine every service. So under a year for me.

It's peanuts for wipers but new ones make a big difference.

Depends on your weather condition and usage. For place with a solid 4 seasons, I would replace them every 2yrs. For weather like San Diego, CA, the wiper would likely last the life of the vehicle.

For my retired E60 they were changed once a year (usually in the fall) but my prior 325iT wipers lasted two years. But I am very particular about being able to see as much as possible and my cars are never garaged and live under a large tree which I am sure is a big factor in the condition of the glass.
My F10 is only three months old so its too early to tell.

Just on the subject of wipers - I wish they had made the highest setting quite a bit faster. The E60 I had struggled to clear the screen in heavy rain but the F10 is even worse!
In between BMWs I've had a Volvo and a Mercedes and both were better in this respect (though little else...)

Thanks folks for your feedback, I am changing my ones to BMW ones, I was just checking if this was only on my F10, since this is not the case with my wife X3, a 2011 car just like my one, also with my old E60 my 1st set use to hit the side had to use a new set to change the defaulted one, hence not sure how good the BMW wipers are based on my experience.

I raised a tread when I switched from my E60 to F10 last year, I find BMW ones also not good at starting when rains starts, sometimes I feel like I need to switch to the manual one before my late, certainly the sensors are a complete joke, this also applies for E60 and E90 as well as our current X3. looks like to the only option is to sometimes go back to the manual setup..

Did some searching on the forum and can't find any guidance on where folks get their replacement wipers. I have quite a few miles before I take it in for service. Help, please.

On my previous BMWs, I've found that they've lasted for a minimum of two years. However, with that said, I honestly never looked at the OEM equipment manufacturer of those past wipers... and who knows what the F10 is using, etc. Like some others have said, it's probably just a good practice to change them yearly as it makes a huge difference in avoiding streaking and properly clearing the glass.

I've also found that the auto sensor (like many auto sensors) isn't great in lighter rain. Sometimes it's just two intermittent and light for it to work properly. In these cases, I just flip it to the first manual setting and deal with it. This is where new blades are helpful, since the fresh rubber will skim the window much easier even if a bit dry than an aged, old, cracking blade.

I got for the same as the original ones, making sure I get the same comfort, i.e. limiting the chances of getting a good per of wipers out in the market but somehow not for the F10, like noise and all, so original Bosch are the perfect choice for me down to my experience. On the question I raised originally, how long they should last, I believe it is simply impossible to compare as weather changes year in year out and also temperature impact on the rubber and all, add maybe different mileage and it is simply impossible to compare.
So if it works why fix it!

I have Bosch Wipers on everything I own. Replace annually unless I see streaking during night driving, then I replace at once. Also, I use Rainex washer fluid liberally. I learned a lot from a video on windshield detailing that has been a help: using a single edge razor blade in a holder with plenty of cleaning fluid to get embedded gunk off the glass.
