Question Electric steering improved?

Has bmw fixed the numbness in the electric steering? Do m sport in cars like 535 or 550 get a better steering setup? Or is it the same and those old days of road feedback are gone and one must drive an m5 if you want hydraulic steering in 5 series?

Not really, a family friend is and I am trying to hook him up with BMW. His only concern is EPS and he isn't a forum person per se (50+).

X Drive has hydraulic steering. I'm 50+.

I can give you my opinion on the steering but I think the best thing to do si really just go and try one.
IF you like it great, if you don't, well choose something else.

I think most manaufacturers will go thsi way anyway for reduced emissions reasons which is the way everything is going anyway.

Don't get me started on future 3 cylinder engines!

The eps has definitely improved on the 2014's, but one won't mistake it for a hydraulic system. It feels fine to me considering the F10 weighs 2 tons and can't really be tossed around like its predecessor. It's a fine car and you can have fun with it but if handling is at the top of your friends list, then look at the Audi A6 or (sadly) the Lexus GS.

The steering feels noticeably improved in the 2014. I test drove the 2013, and the steering actually held me back from buying - just too big a difference from the 335 I was driving. The 2014 feels way more like the 3's I was used to - significantly improved IMHO. If you drive it in Sport mode, it feels as close to hydraulic steering as I can tell. The feedback and feel is there for the most part... although the most discerning will likely still know the difference. But like it or not this is where cars are going... all drive by wire.

I really can't give you the best answer as I've only driven a hydraulic bmw for a few days before. But I like the feeling of my electric steering. I couldn't really tell the difference even on my 2012.

My 2012 535i with the sport package when put into the sport mode or sport+ firms up the steering and makes it more responsive. no compalints about steering.
