Tuning questions

I want a JB stage 1 really bad, but scared about the warranty getting voided.

Does the BT scan tool work on the 535i to erase codes?

BT Scan tool does not currently work on the F10 N55. (according to burger tuning)

Terry has a forum with all the JB3 stage 1 info on it including the software interface and updated firmware. N54 tech (dot) com

I beg to differ on it not working... N55: F10 and E70 share the same ECU and I have a BT tool, I have been able to read and clear codes using the BT tool on my E70, as well as make minor changes to my oil service due area...

I've had to play around with the BT to get it to work... It doesn't read everything, but if you select the N54 535 or 335 with the latest ECU version they have, it will read the codes and display them correctly according to the N55 code readout...

When you guys refer to the BT Tool are you referring to a) Bavarian Tech BMW Scan Tool; b) JB3 2.0 Software or c) the CAN tool?

Thanks

interesting - I emailed Bavarian Technic and they said they dont offer support yet...

Can you clear shadow codes as well? You know this is where the infamous tuner codes lie (Im sure many other places as well that we don't know about).

Would also like to get this clarified - the BMS CAN tool does not work from what I know. The JB3 software doesn't have CAN access either so it can't read/delete codes so Im going to bet that its answer a)

They don't offer support, but this doesnt mean it wont work... I bought one from Terry and he even told me it might not work, but I tried it anyway, and it does work... Just isn't supported by BT...

Army335xi:

Not to be a PITA but when you refer to BT are you referring to Bavarian Technic or Burger Tuning? I have an opportunity to pick either one up tonight but I want to get the right one.

Thanks,
Bill

I talked to Terry at burger tuning and he said on the 535i n55 you can't delete or view codes using anything. The only thing you can do is uninstall the tune and hope there aren't any codes.

Like bulldog asked, you need the latest bmw ecu update, and you should update the firmware on the JB3 to the latest as well... IF your still getting CEL after that, there is a bigger problem at play then the JB3.

The JB3 N55 is not going to get update anytime soon, and until the JB4 becomes available for usage on the F10/E70/E71 Platforms, we are stuck with old tech.

THe other option is to get a flash... Then you shouldn't ever have CEL's

I've had the CEL twice but I also haven't had my software updated in a year. Hopefully the issue goes away after that.
