BMW F10 - new Rear Bumper required :(
Stupidly went and reversed into the damn metal fence when pulling into the drive - a neighbor waving & then perfectly timed phone call meant I was moving whilst distracted...lesson learnt!
End result new rear bumper as I badly scratched this one up & put a hole in it. What is the best way of getting a new rear bumper, getting a body shop to quote on supply, paint & fit but with the car being 5 years old now I am keen to see what other options there are. For one, at 2010 were the cars Sophisto grey or Sophisto grey 2? Secondly, any tips on sourcing a replacement other then ebay & trusting a sellers description of 'nearly mint, innit'? Cheers |

for 2010 I believe it will be a90 sophisto grey xirallic. The B90 paint was used after the tsnami in Japan.
The paint code I think is on the B pillar near the tyre pressures. have you had a quote from a BMW bodyshop just out of curiosity? if thats too expensive another possibility might be cars being broken for spares , posted a thread about not long ago. Surprising how many there are |

Hmm, that will make it tricky. It was Nov 2010, but i will have a look around the car for the exact paint label tomorrow.
I haven't spoken to BMW yet, but will ring them for a quote on new bumper with/without painting and see if Indie can do it any cheaper. Land Rover quoted a chap at work £1100 for a new bumper & respray on his Freelander so I am not holding out much hope for BMW on this one. Thanks |

Just to add, what are the risks with buying something like the below & getting it painted locally?
I presume it wont be a genuine BMW part, but is there anything to be careful of? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Prasco-BM04...bmodelId=33012 Thanks |

How bad is it, do you have any pictures?
I hit the corner of a wall in my E70 some years back causing a large gash and indent on the top edge of the bumper and down its face. Everyone told me I'd need a new bumper, but having seen YouTube videos of some pretty badly damaged bumpers being heat repaired I took it to a very reputable local body shop. They managed to heat it, reform it to roughly the same shape, fill it in and repaint the whole bumper. Could not tell it had been repaired and only cost me £350 to have it done. I know filler sounds dodgy but these guys work on loads of premium brands for dealers, it was a really good job and was fine for the three years I owned the car after the repair.... Just Google bumper heat repairs |

A bodyshop will repair that easily.
I had a new rear bumper on my E60 when a woman hit me from behind, £1500 for bumper, spraying and fitting on insurance.

You were right!
I'm taking the car to a bodyshop next week, they are quoting £350 to repaint the rear bumper & correct the narrowest of marks i have made on the very edge of the rear QTR pane. Two bodyshops said it was a very straight forward job, so fingers crossed! |
