Special Group Buy for Vargas N63 Turbos

Hey fellas,

I've been talking to Tony from Vargas Performance Turbo Solutions (the guys behind some of the fastest N54 turbos out there), and he has created a Stage 1 Turbocharger Upgrade for the N63 (I have to confirm, but I believe one for the N63TU as well).

He only has a few sets created, and I wanted to give you guys the first chance to get your hands on them. I will need 2-5 people who are interested.

As quoted from their site,

Quote:
We are proud to introduce the first in our line of N63/N63TU - S63/S63TU turbocharger products the VTT Stage 1 hybrid turbochargers. If you are ready to take your N/S63 powered vehicle to the next level, this is the upgrade for you. We start with a fresh rebuild using all factory spec internals, then we machine the stock compressor housings to take our own custom sized VTT billet compressor wheels, these wheels can support up to 800WHP with the proper tuning and fuel. We then triple balance the wheels, CHRA, and assemble them into the freshly prepared housings.
They use the same wheels as the ones from Pure Turbos, so they're virtually identical.

The turbos go for $4499 (incl. your stock turbos), which is actually a better deal than some other brands out there, and can provide massive gains.

I know our N63 community is often limited when it comes to upgrades, so this is your chance to get your hands on one hell of a product

there is no pointfor n63 cars to upgrade turbos with out tuning solution, this will only work on N63Tu cars that are tuned.

The turbos will actually work with most tunes, including the BMS ones or others (like GSR), along with other modifications and different octanes (93, Race gas, meth, etc.)

From my contact with Tony he seems like a professional straight-up dude, and Vargas offers a 1-year warranty on the turbos.

I've seen their work on N54 cars and it seems pretty damn good, so I think they hold up to their name. I'll find out if they are on here too.

The problem isnt the tuning for the turbos, as they use factory housing so tuning itself wont be needed with the car being able to adapt wastegate programming for boost control, but the issue comes with just not being able to run more boost unless you plan on running race gas at all times, or finding a way to retard timing. As badblack said, no tuning means no timing control, no fueling control and limited intervention with boost which likely will result in the computer freaking out when a certain power level is hit anyway. There will be a mild gain from the efficiency of the larger wheel and cooler boost charge, but not a $6,000+ gain after factoring labor and the cost of the turbos.

With the average N63 car now on 91 or 93 octane, only a 2-3 lb boost is usable before the engine induces detonation. Unfortunately the common misunderstanding on turbo cars is you can just keep cranking boost infinitely, and that just isnt the case, specifically on our cars where they are programmed to run lean for emissions and quite heavy.

You can buy 88mm turbos for less than 4k that will produce 2000hp on a v8, why would anyone spend 5k on stock tiny upgraded turbos? Price gouging anyone??? Fuck that, plus we still have NO real tuning options. Bms is fine for the stock shitty turbos but nothing more, let's face it guys these n63's will never be 800-1000hp monsters. If you want to go fast get an LS powered car and spend some money on a real turbo set up, I've given up on making this slow heavy dud fast, and sorry 11's ain't shit nowadays.

There have been a few mid 700 rwhp M5s to come out of ESS with the turbo upgrades, tuning and bolt ons, but I imagine at that point traction is the issue. Unfortunately while I got to see one on the dyno, I never got to go for a ride in one

I agree, your 550 is the fastest so far. From what I heard from Tony@vargasturbotech is that with the right fuel setup and other modifications these turbos can make some serious power due to better overall flow. Then again I'm just saying whatever he told me.

They did, I believe it was an accidental pricing error.

Seriously thou, I stand by my previous statement in another thread. It's my opinion BMW purposely made the 2010-2013 DME untunable so the 550 wouldn't be able to compete with the m5 when it came out in '13. If someone had the option to get a used 550 m sport and upgrade the exhaust, turbos and get it tuned to make more power than the s63 m5' before it came out, who would want one? I picked up my 550 for $39k with a 3year 30k warranty and so far I've spent just under 9k on exterior and stereo upgrades, I would gladly spend more money on power upgrades to make a legit 700hp. But since we're getting cock blocked by the f'king BMW DME it's not worth it to buy anything till it can be properly tuned for the upgrades. That's what makes sense to me, I'm pretty sure someone will crack the DME but till then we're just taking it deep!

I've strongly agreed with you since you originally brought up the idea. I don't blame them for protecting the brand, but since I bought the car based on tuning potential that has never been realized I have a pretty strong case of buyer's remorse.

The platform in general has potential, but I question if any tuning shop will ever crack the DME.
