Problems with my start-stop system
Hello everyone, I have recently become an owner of an F10 2012 520D. It's all good so far, however, something very strange started to happen. I live in Europe and now it's cold (around 1-3 Celsius). It all started a few days ago. Every morning when I start my car and let's say I make 50-100m and then press a little heavier on the brake, the auto-stop systems triggers itself. Today, after it happened again, even when I turned it off, 100m after that and boom, again. After that, on my commute to work, all seemed right. So, I know that there should be certain conditions met before the system to be triggered and I am sure that one of it is first to reach optimal temperature. It really boggles my mind how the car can switch off the engine when the engine it's cold. Also, I believe my battery will soon need to be replaced. Can it be from the battery?
Any guidance would be highly appreciated! Last edited by Sphericos; 01-30-2019 at 04:55 AM.. |

Something doesn't seem right that when you deactivate start/stop that it still turns off the car.
However, I will note that in the first few years of ownership, my F10 followed the start/stop operating criteria as per design: Like temp below 3C, or stop and go traffic, etc. But now it seems to always be operational. LOL! |

I am going to check the voltage today, however, the battery is the original one and this is one of the reasons why I believe it's time for a change, even though the car starts perfectly fine. I bought it two weeks ago, though. Do not have a clear observation, yet.
