EGR recall smell

I've recently taken my 2016 530d M Sport in for (another!) EGR recall, and now every time the car gets warm it smells really strongly. I've even had visitors notice it just from walking past on the driveway, once a day after I last drove it. It has been improving slightly.

Has anyone else noticed this? Do you know what it is? Does the smell eventually go?

USA 2014 535d Xdrive here. This car has two EGR coolers, on the exhaust side and the front. Both have been replaced. There was smell for just one day. I would complain to your shop and ask them to check for a leak.
