I never heard of Morr before coming to BMW. Are they as good as HRE? DPE? They certainly look great but outside of that I don't know much about them. I spare no expense to buy the best so just wondering what the consensus is... or are they a less expensive entry into performance wheels?

Certainly not entry level. Based on what I've read, and what I paid, I would say that they are high quality performance wheels, but I am not an expert on this.

HRE and DPE are not in the same league. I would rank DPE on the same level as iForged (lower quality) and a million other multi-piece wheels out there now. HRE's are legit but certainly not best of the best and way over priced. There are only so many types of metal grade and manufacturing methods for wheels so just because someone paid 9k for HRE's doesn't make them any better than 4-5k wheels. I use to have a set of HREs on my old BMW and I didn't think they were worth the extra premium...

Interesting. I appreciate the feedback. I like Morr's designs but was convinced by many to go HRE. Buyer's remorse, perhaps?

I was under the impression the HRE are the best of the best. I guess I may have been wrong.
I went with Morr based on my experience with Andy@Morr as well as what I have read on these forums. I have no idea how Morr would stack up to HRE.

Best of the best is interpreted differently by people. Most performance oriented guys would rank BBS, ADVAN, Rays/Volk and a few others as the best in the industry. HRE's is for a different audience and certainly good at what they do and could charge what they charge for a set of wheels since they have people willing to pay for it.

Morr is a much smaller scale operation but their attention to detail for each wheel is outstanding. Little design elements is what separates them from the rest imo and sometimes you can only get this type of service from a smaller scale company.

I have to agree. I can tell you that this is the first set of Morr wheels I have ever purchase. I do not have a history of buying wheels frequently, and I have no intention of becoming a large scale buyer, yet, I was made to feel like a VIP.
As a result, I am seriously considering Morr for my wife's X5.

What HRE did you have? I guess ADVAN and Rays/Volk are generally lighter than HRE, but HRE has more choices in sizes and finishes.

I had brushed HRE 448R on my e46 sedan. Love the look and still one of my favorite designs but the clear coat chipped off, the hidden nuts in the back rusted and two of the wheels developed a slow leak after a year.

Again not knocking HRE at all but just saying high price doesn't always = best quality. Especially when you see people paying 10k for wheels nowadays.

Looks great! Are those the 10" wide rears or 10.5?

Slight drop would complete the package.
