Muffler delete pricing

I just picked up a 2012 535 Xdrive. I'm coming from a 1 series so this is all kinda new to me. I'm wanting to do a muffler delete and was wondering what you guys paid to get it done. I was quoted $800-$1000 due to price of materials and labor. To me this seems really high. I would like your input.

They are tryna pork you with no lube my friend. I paid about $200 (muffler and resonator delete ) which is a bit high in my opinion. Find another shop, for a muffler delete I wouldn't pay more than $150 maybe not even $100.

Look for other exhaust shops in your area m.

150 is tops. 100 is fair.

They were trying to say that materials plus custom labor is why it's pricey. I'm definitely looking into other shops.

We're talking about chopping off the muffler, literally a hack and then replace with piping. Should take about 30 minutes. So if you paid someone 100 bucks that would mean their labor time is 200 an hour! That's more then dealership prices.

Either way make sure to get your stock mufflers back and they don't try to keep them.

Are you wanting to keep the stock tips? If not, eBay or other places online would be best place to order either dual or single tips.

I want to keep stock tips so I don't have to get a new diffuser to fit quad tips. I heard many videos with muffler deleted and it sounded pretty good. I had a muffler delete on my 1 series and I liked the sound. Another shop in my area quoted me $400 for it. I really don't want to take it to a chain muffler place but I might have to.

I'll agrees here. I had a muffler delete that lasted less than a day. My recommendation is do I like I did, straight through with open ended j pipes. I'll try and make a video. It's the best of both worlds, delete and tuned sounding exhaust without the freeway drone.

Or if you have the budget for exhaust then yes M5 exhaust conversion.

Well the delete was 100 - installed
Straight throughs 150 - installed
J pipes 50 - installed
J Pipes opened with turn downs 40 - installed

If I didn't experiment would have been about 190-200.

Ok here is a whatever demo because I had no one to help me record it(poor me). Top of a garage parking lot so not much room to open it up. It's a moderate tone, very mature and fitting for the 5 series. Small amount of throatiness and turbos sounding all whistley due to tune. Sounds wicket in tunnels and garages, passing cars and walls. Very small audible drone at 60-80 and gets loud on WOT. There used to be no drone when the j pipes were capped.
