Finally some pics...

Been wanting to introduce myself. Had an M3 before this (miss her ) and now am a proud owner of a 2013 550I X-drive. Got a spectacular deal at BMW of the Mainline in Philly. Pros: Great Car, More Professional, AWD, More Room. Cons: Not an M3, Not an M3, Not an M3......

I do love her though...

Got her in Carbon Black with Dakota Black Interior.

Just washed her and the bike and thought I should post some pics...

I may be making the same move later this year when the LCI is available. I have an '11 M3 ZCP coupe that has been far and away the best car I have ever owned. I really hate to give it up but I need AWD now. I'm a bit concerned coming from the M3 that the 550 is going to seem disconnected and floaty. I know I will miss the intoxicating sound of the M3's V8. I don't see any pics- did you get M Sport?

Yeah I got the Msport...I tried uploading the pics but it keeps telling me that the size doesn't fit. Never had issues with Iphone photos on the M3post. Let me see what I can do.

As far as the disconnected feeling...Buckle my man...It'll be there waiting for you. I tried downshifting on the sportshift and no rev match....the battery from the F'n ED kicks in...

Thanks guys...Trying not to touch the car at all, but did look at some HR springs. Quick question...Is it worth it? Does the car end up looking slammed?

just sold my 2008 M3 in Dec for a 550i x-drive m sport. For about $8000 added Dinan S2 performance chip, Dinan suspension, and Dinan free-flow exhaust. Now the only thing I really miss from the M3 is the double clutch transmission. But this baby flies and has waaaaay better torque feeling with the all wheel drive than did the M3. You'll get over it.

That is a beautiful Dinan 5. What were your HP/torque gains like? What were the exact drop numbers from the suspension F/R? Any clips of the exhaust? Sorry for the overload in questioning...thinking of doing this myself now.

haven't confirmed the specs yet myself but Dinan advertises these mods to give 501 hp, 580 ft/lbs of torque (on all wheels) - it feels like a rocket taking off from a dead stop - (in Msport+ of course) even comparing it with my previous M cars. The suspension lowers the car 1/2" and gives it a noticeably more aggressive stance than the stock version. The free flow exhaust is a throaty base - lower tone than my M3.

I think the most noticeable change with these mods that I notice on daily driving is the performance suspension - it's a big time improvement on the stock 550i suspension - flat and tight around corners and no real sacrifice in comfort. If anything the comfort issues have to do with the stock all-weather run flats that came with the 550i. I'm keeping those until winters over.

When I bought the car, only the S2 chip was available for 2013 F-10's. Now the S3 is available and it will only cost about $200 to upgrade and that is advertised as bringing in another 10-20 hp - pretty close to the M5, only with all wheel drive. In the end, the only thing I miss with the M3 is the rev matching and DCT. I'm going to add an M grill to replace the chrome one - should look nice with carbon black.

Seems as though you are truly on the ball with all this. Im looking into the Dinan parts as I write this. I like those numbers. Any plans on doing a BBK upgrade?

Maybe someday on the brakes. Next up is the performance chip upgrade. Nice thing about the Dinan mods is that it doesn't void your BMW warranty -Dinan warranties their own stuff. One word of warning though if you're thinking about the performance chip - you need to let your BMW service dept know about it if the Dinan work is done by another shop. If the car needs any software upgrades there's a risk of defaulting back to the stock performance program. That already happened to me and I had to have the performance chip re-programmed back in by the Dinan guys - fortunately my Dinan shop is about 2 blocks from the BMW service dept and the BMW folks took care of it.

When did you buy the car? I had the Dinan S3 (w/ exhaust & Dinan springs) put on my 2013 550xi in Late Oct. I'd be interested in hearing your before / after thoughts on the software upgrade.

Late fall - picked it up in Nov but bought the mods earlier. They didn't have the S3 when I bought the mods - I guess it's an easy upgrade though. If you're asking about the before and after when I got my car - the only comparison I had was with a stock 550i that I test drove. I picked up my car after the mods were already installed. I didn't push the test drive so I can't comment much on the difference in the power feel but here was a huge difference in the suspension - especially the roll on curves. I'm planning on upgrading to the S3 just for the pure heck of it. I noticed on the Dinan website that they now have a S4 upgrade now. Do you suppose that adds another 10-20 hp on top of the 10-20 hp bump of the S3?

Sorry, I was asking about the difference between the S2 and the S3. I'd love to know if you feel any difference. A buddy of mine has the S2, and it feels really fast, but I haven't personally driven it (just rode in it). My S3 I know is fast.
