Radio staying on after engine off

Just picked up my new F10, and have noticed that the radio/media stays on after the engine has been switched off, until I lock the doors?

Is there a way of getting it to turn off with the engine unless I manually turn it back on with the button?

Cheers

Hi Piers, this is normal. I'm not sure if you can easily change it. I found it a bit strange at first, but you quickly become accustomed to it.

Enjoy your F10!!

Do you push the stop button a second time after shutting off the engine?

No, should I? Will that not turn the engine back on?

If you have your foot on the brake (for an auto anyway) yes, if you don't, no it shuts everything off and unlocks the doors.

I find this annoying as well. There should be a way to have the radio turn off with the engine without hitting the button a second time. My car is a manual and if I still have the clutch depressed when hitting the button for the second time, the car will start back up. This should be configurable somehow.

You must either press the start button a second time (foot off the brake OR the clutch), or get out and press the lock button on the key fob or ridges on your door handle (if your car is so equipped), or wait ten minutes, or code your car with this:
- Turn off power (radio and iDrive) when opening door
CAS=>3000=>TC_LOGIC_KLR_OFF_DOOR=>aktiv

So it's not just me who thinks that's a little strange.
I'll try the 'double off' but think I will add this to my list of coding requirements.

I just lock the doors after a single engine-off button press. Too often if I double press, I find I still have my foot on the brake. Then I feel like I was "punk'd". It's a dumb set-up.

This is not entirely correct -- the standard set-up does not include door unlocks. It doesn't matter whether they were set to lock automatically on driving, or locked manually.

Correct. The door unlock on engine turn off has to be coded in our NA cars.

Thanks, this alone will make coding worth it for me. I didn't know this was even an option.

Ah! I was basing it on my car, which does unlock the doors on power off. But i am in the UK.

Most coding and mods that I do is from NA envy of EU car defaults!
(Except for that weird right-hand drive thing that you do)

I have the opposite issue. I've spent hours searching the OM and online and I just can't seem to find the answer. How do I turn on the radio without turning on the car. This is my first push button car and I'm used to a key where one gets (usually) acc/off/on/start or off/acc/on/start. When I push the start button (foot off brake) the car is in the "on" function with A/C, lights, fan, etc. energized. I would like to listen to the radio while I'm waiting for my wife at the mall!! TIA!!

Just push the radio button. Be advised, however, that it will turn itself off after ten minutes (or so) to preserve battery life...
