Potential tuning option for N63
Guys,
I spoke to a tuning shop in Durham, NC that sells Eurocharged flash tunes. The guy I spoke to says Eurocharged hasn't provided anything to them for the N63 yet, and he hasn't seen dyno graphs or hard data that shows they can actually meet the claims on their website and various forums. That pretty much soldifies my opinion that they can't do it, until something materializes. That said, the guy had hopes that he could use Autologic to hard write parameter changes and target values on the DMEs. Looking through the pages of Autologic tables, there is some hope that the N63 with the MSD85 DMEs can be "tuned" with Autologic. His only concern was what if any improvement would be shown, and what it would cost. Has anyone had experience with Autologic, and has it proven viable on other BMW platforms or has it been shot down? If you could change certain targets, coupled with say BMS stage 1 or 2, it would seem that you could max out the potential of the piggyback. Or simply changing maps and fuel/boost targets, potentially getting more from the car in stock form. I'll keep you posted with what I find out. - Grant

Have not heard or seen any reviews about them.
The most popular and proven option for your car is the Burger Tuning Jb

Thanks Mike, but a quick glance at my signature will show I have BMS Stage 1.
Right now the tuning problem we face as a community, is a lack of flash tune support for the twin DME engine management systems on the newer BMWs. Flash tuning and adjustments to selected target values is the best and safest way to increase these engines to maximum power. Until we get that support, we are limited to piggyback tunes (BMS, which I fully support by the way) and whatever mythical options Dinan provides. I swear Dinan should change their logo to a unicorn, because that is about as close to real as they get.

tfa,
I agree completely. What I'm working on is a potential flash tune. If it turns out we're truly stuck with piggybacks for the immediate future, then Stage 2 is the way ahead. The thing about Autologic is it didn't sound like it was aggressive, it does improve power and torque, and in some cases fuel economy. That said I don't think it is going to be the final answer, but it might crack open the door.

Okay, followup provided nothing positive. The only thing it did confirm is Eurocharged can't OBD flash the N63, even though it's for sale on their website. That is a positive confirmation.
Second, Autologic is a no-go. It won't work. So right now, this thread is stuck going no where. The shop owner is going to talk to the owner of Eurocharged to try and get specifics behind it being listed for sale but not available. If they got threatened from BMW, then this guy sounds just ballsy enough to try and sell the software if he can get it. All in all, this is likely a dead end road. One thing I would like to say, is I may have hammered Eurocharged quite a bit in this thread, some of it unwarranted. It stems from a thread in another forum where Eurocharged (Jake at Eurocharged) is adamant about what they can do for the M5 (S63TU) and how it is possible to flash it working around the Flex Ray issues. So, the guy doesn't outright say they can flash the N63, but the S63TU comments coupled with the fact that they sell the N63 flash on their website, led me to believe there was fire associated with all the smoke. There are a few more leads to run down, with different software options, but I think if it was possible we'd see something by now. Throw in the fact that 54.4 rwhp on an M5 (Eurocharged claim)??? Someone would have bought the tune by now, and I can't find one person that has. Not one.

I'm there dude. I found this thread a few minutes ago, which is disheartening to say the least...
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=982526 I think this quote from the thread covers all there is to know about the new BMWs. Quote:

Yeah, five minutes in Microsoft Paint can work wonders for a crappy day at the office.
How's the meth project going? Ha, just noticed you set the picture as your background. It will gather a few chuckles in the frugal tuning community I'm sure, though the big spenders might be disgruntled.

Yeah, I saw it. I hoped it was just a bug, but it sounds like it might be something more.
Did you get a drop across the board (meth vs no meth)? I know dyno runs are expensive up your way, but if and when you get back on there I'd be curious how it is performing. I've learned not to trust my butt dyno, but weekly runs at a shop can get very expensive.

Yup, it was worth a shot, but I've got no faith anything materializes from the shop in NC. At least the guy is giving it, what appears to be, a good effort.
Good thing is we have plenty of guys trying to find extra horsepower, and the community continues to grow as the 60-somethings turn the N63/N63TU's in off lease and a younger crowd can get involved. So, we continue to wait, but like previously mentioned BMS Stage 2 is a nice consolation prize.

I plan to have mine til the wheels fall off (and then I'll just buy new ones!) so I guess I can wait it out.

People can doubt this cars tuning ability but it took the tune flashers at least 3-4 years on the N54 engine. The piggy backs were always available initially. I think as mentioned above, now that the used market is opening up to the younger crowdes I think the tuner shops will start to see profits awaiting them.

Do they make anything for the N63 yet? When I first got mine in Jan they didn't yet. Looking at the site now it seems they do. 500HP claimed. Jeez.
