M6 exhaust mod
So i recently picked up a pair of M6 mufflers to do a swap on my 535i with. My biggest question now is what to do about the bumper! I was under the impression that the mid section was removable in order fit a quad outlet sized valence on there, but it all looks like it's one piece :-(
Am i missing something? Is cutting the bumper the only way? If i order a valence where would it fit? Plz help! -AC |

Do you have an M-Sport rear bumper? If so, you just need to swap your 535 diffuser for a 550 diffuser, or any aftermarket diffuser that will fit a quad setup. If you have a non M-Sport bumper, then yes you have an issue. It is all one piece and there is no easy way to mod the bumper.

Yea it's the non-M sport :-(
My muffler guy said he'd be willing to trim my bumper for me so I'm gonna go that route just so i can get the muffler hung. After that i may fab my own rear valence when i have more time. I'll be sure to post pics :-) Thanks y'all! |

Mod the opening
Which M6 mufflers did you score? If they're previous generation (E63 M6 2006-2010), then you'll have to alter the direction and length of the quad tips to fit the non-M Sport rear bumper facia (which will take some trimming or the M Sport facia (which does not). Pic below is previous mod with E63 M6 mufflers with new, shortened and repointed quad tips. Pic show muffler hanging low just before being fastened up to the hangers. Once fastened, they were nicely centered into the M sport facia opening.
But yes, with the non M Sport facia, you'll have to widen the opening. Last edited by HDEddie1; 01-31-2014 at 11:49 AM.. Reason: Corrected comment regarding Facia. |
