What tire size do you drive on a staggered 20" setup?

Hi,

I have bought a set of Stance wheels for my summer setup.

Wheels are 9x20" front and 10,5x20" rear.

BMW sells there staggered wheels with 275/30R20 and 245/35R20 tyres. These are runflat tyres.

Now if i calculate the difference in circumference in the 275-245, its -0,96%.

If i would use a 285 tire in the rear the difference is only -0,07% , so this would suit better, especialy on Xdrive.

Now here what the problem is, I can not find a RFT tire in the 285 size.

I find it strange that BMW uses 275 in the rears since 285 suits better.

What do you guys run on an xdrive? I've read some horror stories about Xdrive failures with the 275-245 setup in Germany and BMW avoiding warranty because of aftermarket wheels!!

What do you advice?

Thanks,

Fre

I run 285/245 and I've had zero problems with my xdrive. I don't have run flats, I have Hankook Ventus V12

Like Dan says!

The 245/35/20 and 285/30/20 is a good fit for both X-Drive and non X-Drive cars. Its the most popular sizing we have for the F10.

I asked the dealer about the tires, he told me my warranty on suspension, drivetrain will void if I mount other tires than the star tires that BMW advises. The size on those is 275/30/20 and 245/35/20 and are runflat tires. Why would BMW advice a tire set that has 0,96% difference in circumference when you can have a set (285) that only has 0,07% difference???!!!
Anyone running that size on an Xdrive? I've read some horror stories about demolished differentials on Xdrive with that setup...
Any advice?

I find that crazy as well. I run 245/285 on Xdrive with no problems.
