I've got a 530d and am very pleased with it. It is certianly very fast if need be and I've not had to give it full throttle yet.
I've not driven a 535d but like others here, if you can afford one, go for it.
If cost is making you think twice, then perhaps go and test drive 530d first, if you like that then buy it. It you test drive a 535d first, you may not want the 530d!
Eitehr way, they will be verty nice cars.

Again if budget allows , the HUD is IMHO, a must. I'd miss it now.
Active cruise control - again not cheap is pretty good, its best area seem to be motorways and in heavy traffic where you can relax and leave it up to teh car , only downside is cars that jump in teh gap in front where the car will slow down to maintain the gap.

The two things that really set the 535d are instantaneous throttle response - there is no lag whatsoever, it is sharper than even a 550i - and the ingear acceleration between 30 through to 70 - passing slow moving traffic becomes so easy.

The price difference isn't quite as large as it seems, as the 535d has the auto as standard.
