I own both, and no, it's not! 43 here, and honestly I'm surprised at how many young people own 5ers. It's not the money thing, but in my 20's, I wouldn't have been caught dead in a large 4-door sedan. At 43, the E92 M3 is my primary car. The wife drives the 535.

36 here but I don't think I look it. Sometimes I feel weird driving this car in shorts and tshirt like I am borrowing my dads car lol.
A bit shocking as I fall on the older end of the spectrum here. I thought most of the guys here would be in the 30-40 range. If I were still in my 20's I would be in a M3 or Z4 no question. The F10 is because of the wife and baby. Alan |

Had a 335i at 22. Just got a 535i at 26.
Would have rather had an M3 but situation of life dictated something with good gas mileage, room for the Dog and suitcases was necessary. M3 will be next, but as a weekend/track day item.

I seriously bought a 535 to keep myself from buying an X5 as my golf club hauler/Home Depot runner instead. I did think the size of the F30 was more appropriate, but was really hesitant to buy a 1st year edition. The 535 was always going to be paired with something angry like an M3 and will be someday (still have a pretty well modded E46 330 for the time being). I just can't accept using a BMW as an SUV for some reason and would just rather have a Tahoe or something I could beat up and not feel bad.

I'm sorry but an M3 in every way possible aside from sporting dynamics is vastly inferior to an F10. What I mean is that if you want more luxury, interior quality/design, up to date tech, solidity, safety, craftsmanship, design beauty (IMO), etc. then the F10 is the superior *car*. That's why younger people here buy it. Not everyone thinks that a sportier and harder riding car is bar none better than a larger more luxurious one that wears its price tag more authentically when gauging it holistically.

The IS350 F-Sport is great when you're pushing things to the limit. When you do that though, you're really doing something unsafe on public roads. Maybe when I was 18 or 21, I'd be foolish enough to do that. The A6 is actually a sportier car than the 5 series, but for luxury/craftsmanship, the 5 series is light years beyond every other car I looked at. If I really wanted a track car, I'd get a Scion FR-S and race prep it. If I wanted a daily driver with handling as the #1 priority, the new Corvette is, by far, the smarter choice. For a given budget, these would be my choices: ~ $30K 2 door: FR-S / BR-Z + mods 4 door: G37 ~ $60K 2 door: Corvette 4 door: F10 5 series ~ $120K 2 door: GT-R 4 door: Model S ~ $250K 2 door: McLaren MP4-12C 4 door: Aston Martin Rapide |

30! and it is my first Bimmer ever. The first I drove was an E92, my cousin's and then an E66 7er, my in-law's.
