Another set of tires bite the dust

Add me to the growing list of people who have had road hazard (pothole) problems with my 535i. A pothole totally destroyed my left front tire last night. The sidewall has a large rip in it. My right front tire had previously been damaged and had a bubble on it, so the fronts needed to be replaced soon anyway. Now the car is disabled until replacements can arrive hopefully in a couple days. My car has the Goodyear Excellence tires installed on it.

The good news is that I was able to get home on the damaged tire, so the RFTs did save me there.

It's interesting that the Motor Trend long-term evaluation of the F10 535i said great things about the car except for the 4 or 5 tires they had to replace due to damage. I've had this car for a little under 2 years and both of my front tires have been seriously damaged. I've never had this issue before on any other car.

So for all of those people thinking of getting an F10, I'd seriously consider buying the road hazard insurance even though that's something I would normally not do.

Sorry to hear your troubles and glad you made it home safely. BMW really stuck to us w their choice in both models of Goodyear tires that are on our cars. At least your lucky enough to be able to order new ones. I got blasted w the ls2 tires and they're not available anywhere. Luckily I was able to find a used set on here. Good luck getting up an running again.

Yup, I too have the LS2's and am bring it in tomorrow as 3 of them have huge bubbles. A few months ago, I had to replace 2 of them. The dealer says they have them in stock...I hate replacing these crappy tires with the same thing, but I guess I don't have a choice.

I love this car but...

I got my 2012 528i almost 3 months ago and as of right now my car is at the dealership getting the tires replaced for the 2nd time!!! I went to the dealership the first time because of a shake at highway speeds about a month after I got it and they replaced 2 tires. Problem never got fixed and it drove the same. And now I'm getting the other 2 replaced!! They said I can switch to regular tires instead of the RFTs if they don't improve the ride by tomorrow but I would have to pay for them and pay for a spare. I don't think that's fair :

Why does my 535 not have Goodyears? Not that I'm complaining based on the comments.

I'm on same boat with those good years.
I got damage on both front and replace one tire at good year with warranty.
now I put the car in the dealer for other problem. but they found the front wheels have to be replaced as well. I fixed the bent and cracked wheel but dealer won't let me drive it with them due to safety issue.
I was about to get summer set of non-rft with larger wheels though..

funny thing is the loaner from the dealer has non-rft on it and it feels better in my opinion.
definitely get rid of these good years soon.

I bought the insurance, sure am glad 17,500 miles, one bent rim and two new rear tires only cost $400.00 instead of $1,200.00

Me too, picked up a puncture on the continental tyre, but no bubbles etc... Meanwhile my brother with his f10 on Goodyear is on his 4th tyre in the same period!

RWD cars come with summer tires which are better Michelin or Dunlop versions. This issue is affecting AWD cars which have Goodyears.

You would think after knowing there are serious issues w their tire choices on these cars that there would've been something done about it. Hell, they're sellin cars w tires on them that are completely unavailable in some parts of the country should there be a mishap w them.
