What a great looking car! The space grey really shows those detailed lines.

+1. I saw 3 examples of (my) sophisto grey at last in Amsterdam at the weekend. It looks very nice but very different to the space grey.

I was surprised to see the traction control off switch by the sport auto buttons - I thought you selected sport plus for that.

Still at least a month to go for me...

Lovely motor Kev R, interior looks class. Just a word of advice to anyone planning to debadge their 520d. Make sure you opt for ambient lighting, as the lack of chrome strips on the door handles is a dead give away its a 520. With this option come the puddle door lights and the chrome strips on the handles - std on all variants above the 520's. Very envious of your sport auto option - didnt spec on mine thanks to dealer advice and missing out on the best value option BMW has ever offered :-(((((

That's assuming you're shallow enough to debadge your 520 in order to pretend it's something else.....

I don't think the M-Sport has the chrome trims anyway, does it? Seems a bit incongorous to have chrome on the door handles. What are we driving, Austin Allegros?

I debadged purely because its easier to keep clean!

I'm driving a 5. Its already a better car than most other cars on the road. I'm sure I can live with the shame of having a lesser model than some of the other 5's out there as I cruise along feeling a million quid......

Agreed, still surprised by how many people do debadge tho, I'm proud to go for the 520d and do my bit for the environment and get the best value for money in the entire BMW range, I polish the model badge with the same enthusiasm I do the rest of the car

My 535d MS has the chrome door handle strips, but I can't say that it bothers me unduly. Might be a different story if I'd opted for a darker colour, but then I'd probably be more annoyed at the visibility of the stone chips and swirl marks in the paintwork.

I have debadged all my cars since it became an option to do so, I just like a nice clean rear end...stop it, you know what I mean!!!

If I had a 550i or even an M5 I would still debadge.

:
Sport+ disables traction control, but leaves stability control in place. The button above turns off stability control as well, so you have three-stage system - all on/TC off but stability on/all off (better have some talent...)

There's a nice roundabout on the way to work which is really wide, well sighted, usually empty at 6:30am etc, so when it's wet I usually hit sport+ and manual shifting and have some sideways action when there's no-one around. Once the car gets to a certain angle you can feel the stability control kicking in and bringing it back into line.

It does sometimes prematurely end a nice drift, but I'm not brave/talented enough to want to risk it without stability control on in my own car on a public road...

removal of 520d

i removed my 520d from the rear because I too like the clean looks - nothing to do with trying to pretend the car is anything really ! Anyone, who knows, can see with my 17" wheels what the car will be and I am happy with that - not sure what all the fuss is about !

This issue has been hotly debated elsewhere on the forum. Personally, I'm very much in the de-badge camp as, like you, I prefer the clean look and, being anti-bling, I think it's a bit less-in-your-face.
I was in my local BMW dealer recently and the first thing I noticed on arrival was a large sales board inviting customers to spruce up their cars with the addition of an official tricolour 'M' badge - only £35
There's a long-running and quite humorous thread dedicated to this here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=379347
