Installing comfort seats

Hello,

Hope everyone is doing well. I am looking to purchase an F10 535 XDrive with an M Sport package. I have found one that I like, but it has the standard seats and not the sport seats. I think the rear seats are the same. Has anyone attempted to swap the front standard seats with sport seats? Is this doable? What is needed in terms of hardware (besides the seats) and programming for the sport seats and airbags to function properly? I would swap for the same color so I won’t need to change any of the trim.

Thank you

Assuming you have memory seats already, it's pretty plug and play. I've done it. The main thing is that you need to run 2 wires from each seat to the ACSM module, as the base seats don't have the active head restraint.

As for programming, just VO code the relevant options:

Remove 459, add 453.

Add 455 if they're ventilated. Add 456 if they're active. Done.

Edit:

Got the order wrong. See below.

Thank you for the reply. Exactly what I needed.

I am not certain if memory seats were standard option on base seat. If not, what needs to be done for that?

If I am not switching rear seats, do I need to do anything?

Lastly, can the coding be done with something like ISTA?

Thank you

1. I'm not sure either. If you have the panel by your feet, you have it. Otherwise, decode the vin on mdecoder and look for S459

2. Rear seats are the same

3. If you DON'T have memory, I'm not sure. I haven't retrofitted non-memory cars.

4. No, has to be done via Esys.

Just for verification... X-Drive M-Sports are appearance only; no sport suspension.

Thank you. I knew about it. I am still kind of debating if I should go with RWD.

I didn't see a year stated for the F10 of interest, so as a note, front seat rails are not interchangeable between pre-LCI and LCI F10's.

The pre-LCI seat rails are spaced about 100mm wider than the LCI seat rails. These rails are what you attach the seats to the vehicle floor boards, so getting the wrong seat will only lighten your wallet....given that you'll spend at least $500 or more for just front seats.

I have seen a lot of used pre-LCI seats advertised, and they often state they are interchangeable from 2010 - 2016...this is NOT true.

I've done a complete interior conversion on my F10, and I can tell you that there are other subtle difference between pre-LCI and LCI F10's that will waste your money if you aren't fully aware.

Thank you very much for this info. I didn’t know about this.

As for programming, just VO code the relevant options:

Remove 459, add 453.

Add 455 if they're ventilated. Add 456 if they're active. Done.

The above is incorrect partly. Below are the correct VO codes

453 Climate-Controlled Seats, Front
455 Active Seat For Driver And Passenger
456 Comfort Seat With Memory

I just installed ventilated and active seats in my f10 yesterday and was coming from comfort seats.

I had to VO code car with 453 and 455. I then VO coded both seat modules, FRM, JBBE, NBT.

However I was not able to VO the seat module since I have to reinject CAFD for seats. I can help code this remotely.

You will get an airbag code for both seats until you inject cafd.

Hello, I am doing same, changing regular seats to m sport seats, I did understand that i need to run two wires, but my question is do u need to use my original modules or i can use modules that came with m sport seats. Note that both seats have different pins and modules have different pins layout too.
Thanks in advance!
