BMW sells it, ask your parts department. Make sure they understand you don't want the carbon fiber one. I have the carbon fiber on my 2011 DG 550ix. I think its a little too big. I ordered the M spoiler for for my 2012 carbon black 550ix that is supposed to be in this week. I will post photos of both to give you a comparison.

This is the official OEM M5 style spoiler part. Also available pre-painted if you click on options.

Yes, I would be happy to. I know on my carbon fiber spoiler the dealership used an automotive adhesive rather than the two sided tape supplied with the spoiler. I will see if they will let me take some photos as they install it.

That makes sense to me. The thing I was wondering about the tape is if it would create a gap between the body and the spoiler, or if the spoiler has a recess for the tape. It needs to sit tight on the trunk lid.

What do they charge to install it?

I am a bit reluctant to let me dealer touch the outside of my car, so if I do this I may just do it myself, or have my detailer do it.

Pardon my lack of knowledge, how is the M5 spoiler different from the regular one?

Don't waste your money buying the OEM spoiler from dealer. There are plenty of good sellers/distributors out there that carry good quality. Look on Ebay. I think the Taiwanese manufacturers are better quality.

To each his own, only OEM for me, my dealer does a great job. Great service, great people. Spend a little on a spoiler here, winter rims and tires there, and I get a better loaner and personal service.

No doubt OEM is better if you got the money. But everyone knows dealer charges more for parts, service, everything.

I think that's why a lot of people go else where for service after the warranty is over.

I think for lip spoilers. The part and installation is simple/straight forward, you can do it yourself. OR buy a replica and have the dealer install it, still cheaper.

I bought the OEM and installed myself. Piece of cake and looks great. Just have someone help you position it. The adhesive it comes with appears to be the same 3M product you can get in any automotive store. Works very well. Pics:

Your OEM spoiler looks very good. Very subtle. Seems smaller than the aftermarket one above.

I deleted the images so we don't have to look at a bad paint job.

Here you go. Super good deal. You may even be able to ask them to paint and ship for $80

I had mine fitted at the factory as part of the options list. Although it is a snug fit and looks flush to the surface, you do get dirt under it quite a lot (I have a white car so it shows )

I regularly have to clean first and then flush it out with a hose before polishing etc. or the dirt collects and gets in the way.

One downside to having it though, is every time you shut the trunk lid, you are forever conscious of the spoiler in the way, and although it is quite rigid, I just feel that one day it might buckle or lose it's form.... hope not!
