Phillips Diamond Vision lights/headlamp error
Hey guys,
Like many, I have the halogen head lights on my veh. I purchased some Phillips Diamond Vision lights (H7 55w) the other day (from ebay). I installed them and they looked great! Once the engine turns on, I get the headlamp error on both sides of the car and the lights flash once then turn off. This only happens when the engine is running. If i key the car on, the lights could stay on forever. Had anyone ever installed these bulbs or had similar issue? If so, what could I do? Phillips on the left and OEM on the right |

Installing the original bulbs doesnt cause the problem.
Have you ever tried those high preformance bulbs? Do you have any pictures? thanks for the help guys! |

If stock has no issue, then it must be faulty aftermarket bulbs.
If you are going for the whitish/bluish look ... Osram is better. IMO. http://www.powerbulbs.com/ca/product...r-h7-twin-pack |

Ive already bought two sets of bulbs. one phillips and one sylvania. Im not in the mood to spend more money on bulbs that I dont know will work or will look good.
Could you provide me with a link to a post that explains these bulbs or something? Thanks! |

Use GP Thunder bulbs. They're one of the few after market bulbs that do not throw error codes. Anything that says 55w = 75w (100w), for example, are not compatible with the smarty BMW computer!

Theres a difference between 'error free' and engine exploding because of cheap bulbs I need info, photos proof etc. And i keep being refered to E90 posts. Is this not a F10 forum? Thanks again guys |

This part tricks your car, thinking it is consuming 55W. Most HID kits consumes about 35W, which will throw error codes. As for HID Kit, I had pretty good luck with the Xentec Slim series. It was on my GSX-R for over 2yrs, with no issues when I sold the bike. If it takes a beating of 8k miles of riding, it should last years in a car. Here's a kit that comes with the CAN BUS, No Error: http://www.ebay.com/itm/35W-12V-HID-...9a78dc&vxp=mtr I think getting the Canceller and XenTec seperately is much cheaper. |

Did you use the CAN BUS or Error Code eliminator? There are many guys running HID fogs without ERRORs. Your computer is looking for 55W power draw, the CAN BUS and Error Free modules imitate the 55W power draw. Car car doesn't know you're using a 35W HID kit with those modules. It's not rocket science guys, basic electronic knowledge. You're giving BMW computers more credit than it deserves. :P

Yeah I was scared of that too that's why I switched back to halogen fog lights. Used to have HID kit from DDM Tuning. Sometimes it flickers and then one day the bulb just died. Heard there is a spike in power draw when you light it up and over time, this might screw up your LCM.

Yep! That's totally true.
It is the startup voltage every time the kit draws the power, it records in the irregularities in the ECU and over time, the spike in voltage causes the computer to think there is indeed something wrong with the light and thereby shutting down the LCM altoghether thus causing the adaptive function of the headlight to fail. I had that failed on my 2008 E60 and (expensive) lesson learned. Quote:

Here's an old post. You guys might want to follow with the F10 guys using the Raptor kits, to see if they're still working!

Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I have the exact same problem with my 2011 F11. However after two weeks of error messages and the computer turning off the lights, the left dipped beam does not get error anymore and stays on. Same old error message for the right beam though. Any ideas? |

I wish I had found this thread before ordering. I'm having the exact same issues as mentioned above, each side will turn off and on and then both will turn off completely as well as the low beam error not clearing.
I found a few other threads with people recommending these as well as the osram nightbreakers and opted for the Phillips. I had previously installed the nightbreakers which seemed to last just over a year so figured I'd try something different. Looks like I'll have to try return as this was an eBay purchase. For anyone interested these H7 diamond visions were installed on a 2010 BMW F10. |
