About to purchase Rotors and brake pads.. Looking for advice

Experienced some serious vibrating when braking hard from high speeds so I've been shopping around for Front rotors and Brake pads.

After searching extensively online. I am leaning towards these 2 choices

http://performance.importrp.com/ebc-...s/g-63416.aspx

OR

http://performance.importrp.com/ebc-...t/g-63415.aspx

Does anybody have experience with EBC slotted or Drilled rotors? I'm leaning towards the USR slotted because of complaints of noisiness from the drilled version. Anybody Opinions?

Also my car is a 2011 550i M and the website shows the USR rotors have 2 sizes that fit my car. 13.7" and 14.7" Did the 550I come with different size brake rotors? Do i need go take my wheel off and measure it to figure out which one i need?

For the brake pads I like what i've read about the EBC "redstuff". Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I was in the same boat as you and found there's more to it than you think. OEM pads tend to leave deposits on the rotors causing vibration having you believe the rotors needs replacing.
Check your rotors, they should be shiny. If not, those are the deposits referenced above. Also, the pads sometimes crack so check those as well.

I went with OEM pads from Turner Motorsports to keep the factory braking feel and grab.

Thanks for the feedback..I just checked and my rotor arn't very shiny so that might be it. Did you only need to replace the front brake pads? Im wondering if i need to order a brake pad wear sensor as well or if the current one can be reused.

Thanks

Yes, I did pads only but will likely end up ordering slotted/drilled rotors because my new wheels show a lot of the brake.

F10's are especially sensitive to wear of the trust arm bushing that can cause a heavy vibration under braking. I'd make sure you're not chasing the wrong thing. Its very uncommon for brake rotors to actually seriously be warped. Pad deposits can cause a vibration, but those are easily cleared by making a few high speed threshold stops. IE speed up to 70, and stand on the brakes just shy of ABS modulation down to 15, speed back up to 70... repeat 3-4 times and then drive for a bit to allow the brakes to cool without coming to a stand still and burning the hot pad onto the disc.

I wouldn't put EBC on a lawn mower. Stick with ATE/Pagid/Textar for brake friction components on these cars.
