To those that went from e60 to f10
Dealer has a car on ship arriving soon, I am interested in it. My question is that my current 08. 550 has the m sport pkg which includes active roll. The new 2012 550 has sport m pkg and all wheel drive but no active roll. I love the handling of the 2008 550 (amazing). How is the handling of 2012 550 without ars? My wife has a 2012 535xi with msport, I really don't like the handling, too much body roll. I am planning to lower car and dinan stage 2. How comparable in handling are the 2 with some suspension work on the 2012. Please let me know your experience. Thanks...

without ars (which I don't have on my 550xdrive), you will experience body roll during hard cornering, given the F10 is a bit bigger & heavier car. I thought I would do coilovers (KW V3) but just found out KW has decided NOT to make that to production. Therefore, I guess you will have to do the springs for now as you have mentioned.
Overall, the F10 is a much better built (quality wise) car over the E60 (which I had (535xdrive)). I think you will enjoy the F10 in the long run. Last edited by bobblehead; 05-10-2012 at 12:55 PM.. |

Lee1224,
I had a 525Xi (E60) and moved to a 535i (F10) and noticed right away the difference in handling and the steering feel. I would say the steering is the first thing that will annoy you when/if you have driven an F10. It is so unlike BMW and you feel separated from the road. The closest thing is driving a Lexus! I have grown to accept this now. As with the body roll, it will persist even with springs (I have H&Rs installed) but will be much better than stock and become actually bearable. All in all, I do not regret moving to the F10 but I do miss the handling on the E60. Hope this helps. MBA |
