I wonder, if you have an electrical problem BMW may not cover it bec you have tampered with the battery /wiring.

who said I have an electrical problem? Car has been to BMW 2 times since the cutouts have been installed without incident. They even know the cut-outs are installed....I also installed HID foglights that I needed to tap into the battery without incident as well.....

No I meant what if you develop an electrical problem. Not necessarily related to your cut off valve wiring. I wonder if BMW is going to be reasonable in warranty coverage. Electrical stuff are very expensive in this car. I guess I will have to ask my service rep. Also, do you get exhaust fumes inside the car if you are sitting in traffic with the valves open. I guess you can always close them. If that were a problem.

ohh..i see what you meant....Its pretty standard practice to run different electrical components off the battery but keep in mind that if the dealer doesnt want to pay for something, they can blame ANY aftermarket add-on for the issue....

The key is to keep a very good relationship with your service rep and maybe even hit him off a little somethin somethin once or twice a year....works for me....

sounds great

did eliminating backpressure set any codes at WOT?
I am guessing not since your mods are well downstream of the O2 sensor.

Is there any other place where the cut-outs can be done on the exhaust? I mean a place further down closer to the mufflers.

The sound is awesome, though I would prefer a lower rumble.

yea...you can do it further down closer to the muffler, no problem...

check out this link....

http://www.bimmerpost.com/2010/08/09...haust-cutouts/

Keep in mind that the flaps are 100% adjustable....meaning you can open them 5% or 50% and etc....This adjustments also changes the sound of the exhaust.....

Middly, Do you feel any power difference, or have you been able to measure any improvement in acceleration?
It sounds really good. I don't think you were even redlining in you vid.
Also I know a turbo car allways sounds much better under load

In the video, I was only between 3-5K rpm...

Off the line, its better that the flaps are closed since the turbos need some back pressure to spool faster. I end up opening the flaps, just slightly, as I am approching 70MPH and I feel a big difference as the car is accelerating from that point all the way up. The flaps have provided better high end acceleration that I can feel that wasnt available before.

My car ran 12.4 at 110MPH with only Dinan Stage1. Since then, I have installed Stage2 and the exhaust and I am hoping to get back to the track in NJ on Nov 20. We will see how both of these mods affected my times. I will post the results once I have them.

mspeasl ...you were 100% correct...these damn things leak like hell. The leaks were causing a backpressure loss which slows down the car....I ended up removing them becuase of the issues that they caused....stay away from these cutouts...bad news.......
