iPHONE X /BMW Connected Drive Issues
Have a 2012 BMW 535 - Just upgraded to an Iphone X - None of the BMW connected apps work - Spotify, Amazon, Tune In etc - Nothing will come up - Everything works fine with my previous 6S - Any thoughts?
Tried swapping out the lightening cable, re-paired phone ... I get absolutely nothing - Bluetooth is working fine as is playback from the directly connected phone - Just unable to use any connected apps.. |

Similar. I have an 2011 F11 535d with pro media/nav and my iPhone X reliably connects to the bluetooth, but no sound comes out of the stereo. Around ten minutes of dicking around turning bluetooth off and reconnecting and eventually the audio streaming will start working.
It was a rare but not completely unheard of occurrence with my iPhone 6, but this happens pretty much every time with the X. If anyone works out any tips on how to improve the reliability of this (or at least an effective restart sequence that gets it working in less than 10 minutes) it would be greatly appreciated. |

I also recently upgraded to an iPhone X and am having issues. I don't think I have this Connected Drive thing, as mine is a 2010, but I can't get the phone to charge. It will play music, just not charge. I previously had an iPhone 6 that charged just fine. I'm using a genuine Apple cable. Any help is appreciated.

When I went from a 6S to 8 I had to go back to using an official cable to get my Connected Drive apps to work!

A co-worker has a 2016 F30 and recently bought an iPhone X, also experiencing the same issues. BMW dealer says it's the phone. Glad I kept my 6S.

Just switched to iPhone X today and haven't had a chance to check anything else, but I do not get text messages in the car anymore. Not sure what else doesn't work. The address book did sync though.

Same issue here. Just got an iPhone 8. No connected apps. I will try switching the cable as it is an Amazon one. I called BMW genius last night. They pretty much said "yeah we are getting a lot of these phone calls" and that there was not much they could do about it. iDrive is 2014 NBT.
Text messages work via Office, and media will work through the cable. No connected drive apps though. Frustrating. |

Snap-in cradle or something else?
Folks, I just got myself a 2014 535i (what an upgrade from 2009 E90 ), and it has the following option:
S6NSA Convenience phone, expanded Smartphone Before I look for a 3rd party cradle/holder; I wanted to consult the hive mind here for best iPhone X experience in an F10 with 6NS option. For example, would: BMW Apple iPhone Connect Version Snap In Adapter 84902365786 ..be compatible with iPhone X, what about if the phone has a case? What other connectivity options have you used? My use cases include Waze, audiobooks, phone calls and music streaming. Lastly, to make sure I add something to this existing thread, iOS 11.3 over BT connection to this car seems to work fine from phone calls & A2DP standpoint. I have not yet tested messages or other capabilities. Thank you in advance. |

I just use a plain ol vent clip. I did use one of those magnetic mounts but the adhesive gave up after only a couple of months. For the long trips, I just plug in the lightening cable. It's nice and flat and isn't too tacky to me and the center storage doors have no issues closing with that cable.
I also am not crazy about the idea of having my phone tucked in that enclosed area. |

As a result I just use the cable and put the phone between me and the console. I use a hub in the console so I can have my phone and a USB or 3 plugged-in. |

Hello everyone, I own BMW F10 530i 2013 model VIN C861691
Since I have changed my idrive mouse under warranty I lost internet option in my connected drive, and when I try to update BMW software with my VIN it says “software on this usb incompatible with this vehicle” I took the car to BMW agency and they advised that this is the last update that I have on my car which is (MN-003.013.001) and now the connecteddrive menu is empty, it used to have BMW service number at least. Can anyone help me how to bring back the connected drive menu items again with internet. Note: when I click option in connectedrive menu then update BMW service, it keeps trying to connect through mobile hotspot but no data transfer sessions or anything happens. I have tried everything and the dealer at the end told me that this is the last update and the internet option has been removed because of your region. I own this car in Saudi Arabia. Thanks in advance |
