BMW 2011 535i Resonator Delete Help!!!

Hello there ladies n gents!

So I'm thinking of doing a resonator delete on my 2011 535i (Non-Msport) I've finally decided maybe with the summer coming up I should invest more time and money into my car, but dont get me wrong I'm still a broke college student. Anyway, how are resonator deletes? Hows the drone? How loud should I expect my car to be? I really just want my exhaust to be a little louder and not super obnoxious, mainly why I'm not too interested in a muffler delete. So lets hear it ladies and gents convince me! Is it worth doing?

Thanks a ton for reading over this and replying! Have a good one!

People who have only done a res delete have noticed no difference. You want a mild or an aggressive sound?

Hiya! Thanks for the response, uhm I'm looking for more of a mild sound difference due to it being a daily driver. When you said they noticed no difference did you mean the exhaust didn't sound any louder? Or also the drone was also not different.

Thanks again for the reply!

No change what so ever. If you do a muffler delete with helmhotlz resonator you get what you're looking for. Or get a valvetronic exhaust system like armytrix.

It's odd that I found some videos of n55's with the res just deleted and the sound is really nice, is it because its a pretty base 535i the deleting of the res wont do anything?

The exhaust setup on those are engineered totally different then F10 and meant to be even more sporty with the valve open. Some people leave the valve open permanently and by removing the resonator it gets louder.

The results on the F10 are not comparable. You have to start with a more aggressive setup to get our exhaust to begin making noise.

Oh I never knew that about the F10 exhaust systems, does that also mean that drone is far less noticeable on the F10 compared to the F30? Thanks again!

I did a resonator delete and aftermarket mufflers. The sound is pretty good. Been wanting to hear what it sounds like if I were to be on the street and someone drove my car by.

Only draw back is the slight (subjective) drone around 1.5 to 2K.

I've grown accustomed to the drone at this point.

If you dont mind me asking, which after market mufflers did you decide to go with and how loud is it? I just did the res delete and honestly I like the start of it, I could live with it being a little louder, Id like to hear the inline 6 a little better.

A good straight through. I'm using magnaflo and the older it gets the better it sounds.

I've been looking at the magnaflows also, I honestly like the res gone, its super subtle and I like it. But I thought hey maybe a nice set of mufflers would do me well, could you possibly link the ones you have? How do you like em on a day to day basis?

https://www.magnaflow.com/products?partNumber=11216

Had them without j pipes for less than 24 hours so no, not a daily without the helmhotlz resonators. That's also subjective.

They won't bolt right up either our piping is stock 2.65 and if you get an aftermarket muffler get a 3" and have a custom 2.65 coupler to 3" made.

Haven't had them installed yet? I was thinking of having my resonators cut out, but it sounds like there's no point (if in fact, there is no tone change).

Sound great! That's the EXACT tone I'm looking for. Is there any drone? And is your exhaust fully stock all the way until the M5 mufflers?

Please post a video with the valves fully opened when you get a chance, please!
