newbie w/550i
Nice forum! been lurking for a few weeks...
I have a 2011 550i incoming, its sitting at the port in Brunswick, GA - hopefully in Tampa soon Space Gray, Black interior, Active ventilated seats, Sport Package, Premium 2, Conv. package, Sport auto. Planned upgrades: wheels/tires (TBD), lowering springs and Dinan tune. I am out of my 2008 550i lease, Carbon Black w/Sport Package - its been a great ride! My other passion is my '69 Camaro, Big Block, just finished up a 496ci build - 631hp/618tq with TKO-600 5-speed. I'm an old gearhead - can never have enough horsepower

Picked up the 550i on Friday
Had some seat time this weekend and racked up about 400 miles. I thought I'd share some driving impressions after coming out of a 2008 550i with Sport Package - the new F10 feels heavier, because it is. But the F10 is somewhat deceiving. In Florida I don't encounter many twisty roads but I threw the car into some familiar curves as fast as I felt comfortable without looking at the speed. The F10 does body roll, which is disappointing in a "sport" package but the suspension stayed planted and actually did pretty well. I am definitely trying some aftermarket springs asap with a higher spring rate. Also need to close the tire to fender gap 2-1/4"? waaaay too much on this car IMHO. I avoided the Goodyear "bubble", its equipped with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT's. I expected to hate these RF's based previous experience with Dunlop RF's on my '06 330i but these surprised me...so far. No they are not Michelin PS2's but I can live with these for awhile.. the wheels on the other hand, gotta go! Can't wait until 1200 miles and hammer it Here a few pics of the new Space Gray 2011, the old 2008 Carbon Black 550i and a few of the '69

Congrats - awesome taste - I'm going with the ACS springs - hopefully in the next couple weeks....I definitely hate the wheel gap and body roll as well...

Congratulations on the 550. I'm debating if I should get it or a facelift C63 (I know they are totally different cars).
Nice muscle car too. Looks like you put a lot of work into it. |

Here's what the 20in 312 Ferric Grays look like. I put them on yesterday! If you interested in the M wheels/tires I'm getting ready to put them on line. Only 924 miles on em. asking 3k
