Connecting to Internet using Blackberry
I saw a post by Mobileum about using Blackberry to access Internet, street view etc., etc.
I have 2012 X5 and Blackberry Torch 9810 4G phone that is paired to my BMW. I get phone calls, can play music via Bluetooth, get SMS and E-Mails on my NAV screen - BUT I cannot get Google or Street view or any Internet link. If you would be so kind and let me know step by step - how to get the full Internet link working - I would really appreciate it. My "Connected Drive" in USA is not free - BMW USA wants to charge a yearly subscription fee for this service - but even then it is not a full access like I can get on my phone! If I could enable this connection (make BMW use my phone) OR push my phone display to the NAV screen - this would be a huge improvement over the current BMW system. I am searching the net for a couple of month for the answser, but so far no success. If anyone has an answer, please post or send it to me <vshulyaker@gmail.com> Thanks |

I am a little confused and maybe not up on BMWConnect, BMW Apps and Internet Access. I do not have the BMW App option. I have configured BMW Assist and I have downloaded the MyBMW Remote App for my iphone. I can make the horn blow, flash the lights and unlock. I can also send Google Map Directions to my car from a PC (not the app)
Since I do not have BMW Apps, is their any benefit to me in downloading the BMW Connect App? I am not seeing how I would benefit from using my phone for the internet with my car if I do not have BMW apps. Thanks in advance, Joe

You are not alone. There are different configurations depending on the country. Here in Europe, Connected Drive are only available in a handful of countries where BMW have agreements with teleproviders. In those countries (and the US) they use the on-board SIM card. Therefore it is possible to send instruction to the car. In other countries, all communication is done with the mobile, and is a one-way communication. The BMW Connected is then called BMW Live, and BMW Assist is not available. In BMW Live we will have RSS feeds, Panoramia, Internet Access, Wiki, Google search and Google Street View. I donīt know if you can have BMW Apps in the US. From Apps you get Twitter, Facebook, Calendar and Web-radio.

I received my New M5 F10 in April and I haven't had any problems connecting to Internet etc. Since the first day I collected the car. I'm based in SA and am using MTN mobile service
I'm using a google Nexus phone. I just enabled the bluetooth tethering in settings and the data transfer happened immediately when I connected to the car. My office is also work fine. I hope this helps |
