All 6 cyl diesels 2993cc - but vastly different ratings for bhp & 'Torques' ...
anyone know if there is different h/ware involved - or totally achieved by ECU maps ?

Different amount of turbos for a start - the 3.0d has one twin-scroll turbo, the 35d and 40d have two. Cams and injectors are different too, probably the only common component is the 2993cc block.

Thx - suspected the Turbo(s) different, but hadnt thought about injectors - assumed the ECU squirted a bit longer !
...... so, not simply a case of swapping ECU's then

3.0 one turbo, 3.5d and 4.0 is the same engine with two turbos. 5.0D is with three turbos.
