Additional coat over OptiCoat 2.0 (ceramic). Good idea or rip-off?

To those, who know: I need your suggestion whether it's worthwhile/ a good idea to put an additional "shine coat" over the ceramic OptiCoat layer?

I am treating my new 535 with the optiguard coat and the installer nags me asking if I'd like the extra shine on top. Wants $150 extra for the job.

What would you say? Wouldn't putting that extra coat discount the optiguard a bit? After all it's supposed to provide protection AND good looks. Now I'm told, that in the looks department there is room for improvement for "a little extra". On one hand I do want my car to look its best, on the other I don't want to be totally stupid and allow myself to be ripped off.

All opinions welcome. Thank you

m.

From everything I have read, a layer of quality wax on top of the coating will give extra shine, but it may decrease the beading/repelling qualities of the coating. I plan on topping mine once I get it coated. $150 for a coat of wax sounds a bit steep though.

Thanks. Eventually, I opted in favor of the high gloss coat. No regrets.

This is how it looks like, and what ceramic coat was used.

My recommendation as a detailed my preferred presence for coating is Cquartz UK or FINEST! Opticoat over a few month looses the properties and gloss. The UK is made of silica which is a glass property and the shine is superb. If you have any questions feel free to PM ill b more then glad to help.

While Opti-Coat does add a great layer of protection, many find that it is lacking in the slickness and gloss of some other products.

There are many products that have been designed as "coating toppers" which work to provide added slickness, gloss, and hydrophobic properties to the surface of a ceramic paint coating. These products are a breeze to use, and can be applied as frequently or infrequently as you'd like.

I would highly recommend CarPro Reload or 22ple VS1. Each of these products will add additional protection on top of your coating, promoting even longer durability out of your base coating, and will also give you a boost in gloss, slickness, and beading. Both products are a simple spray on, wipe off type of product (similar to a quick detailer).

Please let me know if you've got any further questions!
