Weird panel symbol

Hi, I have just received my new 520d M Sport, every time when I switch on the engine, just under the blue Efficient Dynamics symbol on the panel, there is a RED three-little-man' symbol which lights up briefly then disappears. Can't find it on the manual and wondering if u guys know what that symbol means?

Thanks!

Thats the symbol for the read passengers, a warning symbol for not wearing the seat belt. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the info! But I just thought the car should be cleverer to know that there is no back passenger, and hence only light up the 'triplet' as warning when detects the existence of back passenger. :P

Tells you that the rear seat belts are not used .... they stay on red if you have rear passengers with no belts or turn green once buckled up, so they do sense the passenger. I think they initially come on as with most warning lights as a check that they are working and then go off again.

I think the point is that you can manually match the pattern of red's and greens with the number of passengers in the rear to ensure they all have the seatbelts on before driving away. The car do not sence the passengers in the rear, but it sences which belts are in use.
In front it also sences if it is passengers in the seat so they can do the more annying warning, but I think with the differences in kids weight, how they sit and all the different child seats constructions it would be difficult to match buckled belts and passangers automamaticly in the rear.

This is interesting. I'll try different combination tonight at the rear seat buckle and see how it would change the colour of the 'triplet' on the diaplay....

Buckle all the rear seatbelts and then have someone unbuckle one or more after the car is started. The display should briefly show you who has unbuckled

And this will also release a warning sound. Should have ssen the face of one of my kids who unbuckled in front of the driveway before we stopped. He thought I wouldn't have noticed ;-)
