Crap Brakes and squeal at low speed

Looks like my 5 is going back for a front break overhaul. BMW said its normal but i just drove my dads near identical car and his brakes feel like his pads are made of silicone they stop that fast. Mine feel like plastic unless i put hard pressure on.

Had some hairy moments coming into a corner on a country road and it felt like i had oil on them. Feels like i have 2 stage brakes.

Dumb ass at BMW tried to tell me it was because of the weight of the car vs my 3 series. Now i have tried my dads i know hes full of shit. Im going to tell him it must be his carbon black paint that makes his car stop faster and better?

From experience I know brakes across identical models can be different, not known it on BMW, but had personal experience in a new VW B5 Passat. Another example of the same car at the garage had superb and progressive brakes.

I could get caught out with low braking power and a two stage feel. Plus they had an initial snatch which made them difficult to modulate. We wondered if the low braking power was discs getting wet, (pre brake drying like we have on the current cars), but it wasn't right even when loading them in the dry. My garage wanted to upgrade the pads, but as the car was in warranty VW instructed new discs and pads. What a transformation, I got progressive and powerful brakes, no issues whatsoever. Simply from a change to supposedly same OEM parts, from a different batch.

I use that example, as not all garages have experience of some of these production anomalies.

BTW, do the discs look right, good and shiny, or any unusual look to them?

They look ok. they have 90k on the idrive saying they were replaced when i bought it from sytner. I have squealing at low speed too so im guessing something is very wrong woth them and causing both the noise and poor performance.

The squealing is usually when disks wear down and create a lip which the pad catches and causes the squeal.

What's the mileage?

Can't be disks!

Did a BMW dealer change the pads? If so I'd send it back to them sharpish, only time I've had squealing on new brakes is when I made the mistake on having euro car parts brake pads fitted on a car many years ago... never again!!
