In car Internet location being interpreted as Germany

I'm trying to watch a music video in the car (I have the Internet option) on You Tube and I can watch it via my home pc. But when I try from the car it comes up with some EMA licensing your not allowed to view it in your country message. I've set the browser to UK as it was set to Germany. Any one else come across this?

GSPANNU, can this be coded?

Cheers.

Is this for all music videos, because I know youtube blocks certain videos in countries they do not have the licence for even on my PC.

I have not seen any country-code in the HU_NBT module (but this is not to say there isn't one !).

Have you tried the suggestion above by wicked5?

If I was to hazard a guess, it is probably going some BMW server in Germany to format the page for iDrive screen in the car.

If correct, although you are connecting via the UK, the server sees a connection from Germany.

I can't even change the homepage. Can this be done through coding?

I understand that the internet connection for this service is not a connection straight to the internet! Rather a connection to the BMW back end servers which in turn connect to the Internet.

I would suggest that they are probably in Germany hence the problem you are facing.

You are not going to be able to code this easily as it is tied to the Soft SIM in the car which has it's APN set as the BMW gateway so all traffic is forced via this route.

Are there any configuration settings for this? Can you check - What is happening is that it has made a VPN connection to a server in Germany. This should be configurable? Maybe you can change from an configuration menu somewhere?

You do not need coding for that.
Open the page which you want to start as home page.
Save that as favourite.
Then go into your favourite and when that page is highlighted, click on options and you will find an option there 'set as home page'. Click on that and job done

So thats how you do it. You have to set a page as a favourite then it opens up the set as homepage option.

Cheers.

No option to set a new homepage is available.

It will still detect you as originating from a server in Germany so watch out for any pages that try to auto detect your location (like Google.com does) but if you can set your homepage then you can always just set it for google.co.uk and then ignore when it prompts you to change it to google.de
