I did not know that. I did read where Buick is going to resurrect the Grand National / GNX brand on the Alpha platform. Maybe more of a 3/4 series competitor, but they have my attention.

I'm sure the LCI BMW 550 series will get the 445hp / 480lb tq engine, it's next in line to receive the revised Valvetronic N63Tu motor.
ATS tries to compete with the F30. CTS tries to compete with the F10. It's about time there's an American car worth buying, great for those who always wanted a German car but afraid of getting their tires slashed in the Union parking lot. It's nice that Cadillac is trying to be like a BMW, but at the end of the day, it's not a BMW (they match the ATS measurement specs to mm to compete with the F30). I didn't buy a BMW because it has the most HP in its class or because it can do 0-60 in 3sec. Hell, if that's the case, I could get a Hyundai Genesis 5.0 R (429hp) for a fraction of the cost. |

I think too many Bimmer fans are going to continue selling the Caddy short just for the sake of elitism.
I'm no Cadillac fan by any means. Especially in the body design department (One of the ugliest designs on the road IMO). However I will give credit where credit is due. The last couple of years, Cadillac has made leaps and bounds. And as is pointed to in several articles I have read comparing the latest ATS to our beloved 3er, Detroit is gaining on Bavaria. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test If BMW continues to land on the side of luxury over performance, as we see increasingly, AND Cadillac comes the other way and puts a bit more fit and finish into their designs (and hopefully a complete body redesign), we may see a new leader by the end of the decade. And I have to say, I may not be all that sad about it. I love BMW's, truly I do. But even stil I say well done Cadillac. It's about time! Keep up the good work.

Love the way the new CTS looks from the front and side profile but hate that long tailight thing they put in all of their cars.
Like someone mentioned about time there's American cars worth taking a look at again. Alan

Impressive and I like it for what it is. The interior looks cheap and "American" enough to where my tastes I know would never be into it.
Numbers are impressive though however they will apparently be carrying over not only the current 3.6 N/A for the mid-line model, but they will be bringing in a 4 banger for the lower/volume model. The TT V6 will be the "550i" of the bunch. As for what the numbers mean to me.... not much as I've never bought my cars for statistical numbers, I buy them for holistic experience. As for design, I actually like it.... for a Cadillac. It looks cleaner and more resolved than the current one. The greenhouse and most of it looks like an ATS, which gives it a kind of basic/homogenized look, however again considering Caddy's have been overly fussy and awkward that's kind of welcome. Though they added lots of attempted fussiness to try and compensate for that. It looks like a Benz, mostly like an E-Class, as Mercedes now themselves try to look like the most complexly awkward and unresolved car manufacturer themselves.... though I think this is actually a better design than what Mercedes is putting out. |

It seems like the way it'll go is: Entry: 4 Cylinder. Middle: Carryover 3.6L N/A V6. Upper: 420 HP TT V6. Then you'll have the CTS-V. Looks like it'll be the same concept as 528i/535i/550i/M5. |

Under the hood, three different engines are available including:
A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 272 bhp (203 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque A naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter V6 with 321 bhp (239 kW) and 275 lb-ft (373 Nm) of torque A turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 with 420 bhp (313 kW) and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm) of torque Depending on which engine is selected, it is connected to a six- or eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard but all-wheel drive is optional. Drivers looking for a sportier driving experience will want to check out the new VSport variant which has a twin-turbo V6 engine, a revised steering system, Brembo brakes and 18-inch aluminum wheels with Pirelli performance tires. Other niceties include a revised grille, a heavy duty cooling system, a driver-selectable track mode and an electronic limited-slip differential. |

The 420 bhp is the "VSport" version which is supposed to compete with 550i M-Sport (as if the M-Sport package means anything).
CTS-V is going to have a supercharged V8 in the 610-650 hp range and will compete with M5. The rumors are it will have a launch control the would also actively level the rear squat of the car to make it launch to 60 mph under 3.5 sec.

Also on the non-V's the standard equipment list is impressive.

I was seriously considering the new CTS when looking to buy my next car, especially after reading the rumors of the twin turbo V6 that surfaced last fall. It really is a nice looking car. Kudos to Caddy for the design. However, I just read that the TTV6 will only be offered in RWD. For me, AWD was mandatory, and over 400hp. No post-purchase dissonance here in my 550i purchase!
Now I just have to wait for the Dutch government to complete the registration process. My car has been sitting at the dealership for two weeks waiting for the paperwork from the Dutch authorities. How can it take 2-4 weeks to get a car registered in a first world country? I have lived in India and Russia and even those corrupt governments could get it done in a few days! |

I'm very surprised that 5 Series owners would consider a Cadillac. Yes, I agree that they're better than they used to be, but it's still made in Detroit by the UAW. You know, the jack asses that used to tell the American public not to buy a car made on a Monday or Friday.
I test drove an ATS a couple weeks ago- not bad, but comparing it to a Bimmer is a long stretch. I do have to also say that my local caddy dealer is the stereotype of a New Jersey dealer that sells cars made in Detroit. I would never buy there - quite embarrassing. I was there 10 minutes and not a single one of the unprofessionals offered to help.

Engine power isnt everything. Any car company can build an engine. Hows the quality?
Did you take your car to the dealership yet? I cant wait till you need to upgrade that radio s/w. Not trying be an a-hole, but i had some bad experiences with Cadillac and so has everyone around me. 420hp engine is good to have but its worthless if the car is sitting at the dealer. |

its fine for german cars because as usual, caddy will include some sort of annoying deal breaker issue with either build construction or trnasmission or both. i hope this is not the case of course, but it always has been so far.
this coming from a former cts v owner |
