Vinyl Roof Wrap

For those of you that got the roof wrapped on your F10, did you do the roof rails as well? I am on the fence about whether I want to get my rails done because they continue down along the windshield on the F10. Not sure how that looks on AW.

Keep in mind that if you wrap your rails you will lose the ability to use any roof racks unless your installer can cut around it and still make the wrap look clean. Otherwise i would leave the rails if you plan on using the anchor points for a rack of any kind.

IMO the rails have to be done. I had my white E Class wrapped and the guy said due to thin plastic rails, the wrap would start peeling. It always bugged me and didn't look too seamless with the rails left as white. I had the same body E before it, in white also, with Pano roof which had the rails painted black and it looked much more resolved.

The guy told me that the F10's have aluminum roof rails, as opposed to the E's plastic, which means that it WOULD be able to be wrapped. Anyone know if that's true?

I wrapped mine. Wouldn't have it any other way after seeing it not wrapped. Good luck!

And what about your shark fins? I understand the installer needs to make a small cut in order to wrap that properly. He said it will be barely noticeable, but if you look for it you will see it. Are you all happy with how yours came out?

So i went to my paint guy, i'm thinking to paint my roof, his advise was paint the rails all the way down, so in that way, even the windshield will look wider. To have the shark fin done properly he will have to drop the headliner and remove the fin.
Same concept if you wrapping..

Actually my wrap guy wrapped the rails and fin without any issues and you coudn't even tell the fin was wrapped.

You can also remove the fin without touching the headliner. Its just held on by double sided tape (i removed mine before).

Great, thanks for the info guys. I didn't wrap the rails on my last project, but think I will be doing them on my F10 after looking at some pictures. Should have time to get it done in the next week or two.

Could someone post pictures of a vinyl-roofed F10? I could use a good laugh.
