Car shakes on start up
Hello,
Just recently I have noticed my car shaking on start-up. It doesn't happen on the first cold start up morning, but happens when I have already driven for about 20 mins or so. Like once, I get home from work and I need to go somewhere. I start up my car and during the first 10 secs of adapting, my whole car rocks back n forth for another 5 secs or so. Anyone else out there have a similar issue? 2013 535i - only mod is Remus exhaust |

I get the shake once in blue moon on a cold start for 5 seconds. Both my F10 N55 did it since brand new. Currently 35K miles with no problems at all, I red line it just about everyday once warmed up. My car does not rock back and forth, only engine shaking like it is have a seizure.

I get the same shake on a certain warm starts aswell only got a few seconds..
It only happens on warm starts, not cold starts.. Only for a few seconds From what i could log and check, my car is 100% and stock, and it does it. I have 19K currently and it has always done it.

I've had it in all three of my N55 and N54 powered vehicles at some point. Like the OP said, only a few seconds then it smoothes out. I always assumed it was just a slightly fouled plug or slightly cranky injector. New plugs seemed to help slightly. My thought was that engines that are broken-in allow some slight deposits of oil or perhaps left over combustion gasses, etc from prior shut-down that doesn't immediately want to burn properly on that next startup.
A close relative to this is the leaky / sticky injector, and that symptom will last longer, just a guess. |

I believe this is actually specific to the logic of the PWG turbo N55's 2011-2014..
But no fear in this, it is normal..
