Time for an upgrade, but to what?

So it seems that the end is near for my F30 328i and I am looking to replace it with something that has the N55 motor either a 335i or a 535i (including the d and hybrid). So it is down to these 2 cars, on one hand I love the performance of the 335i but in love with the interior of the F10. I am leaning towards the F10. The build quality is also much better on the F10, the F30 has very low quality. But I dont know if I want to give up the sportiness of the F30. Maybe some tunes and upgrades for the F10? Any input from you guys will be greatly appreciated.

In either case it will be an Alpine White with M sport line and near fully loaded.

435i Grancoupe should fall in between 335i and 535i

But the 4GC had the same build quality as the F30. Any recommendations on upgrades for the F10!!

Just make sure you get a 2014 and above, wih m sport, 535 or 550, and no xdrive. You'll them get the 704 m sport suspension which is much closer to what you are looking for sportiness-wise

Go for the F10 - the interior, as you mentioned, is head-and-shoulders above the F30.

The 535 should give you plenty of sportiness if you option it correctly. Most important is the suspension - either the passive sport suspension (which will require M Sport + RWD only) OR the Dynamic Handling Package (DHP), which you can also get on xDrive cars. Having DHP, I'd highly recommend it since it'll give you the stiff sport suspension when you want it but also a more compliant ride when you want that, too.

The 550 is also a beast, so take one for a test drive. Coming from a 335, the 535 felt a bit too tame for me. But if you're coming from a 328, the 535 should feel sufficiently quick.

I think the options are more important than the engine, though. So if it's a choice between more options OR the bigger engine, go for the options IMHO.

Yes it will most definitely be a MY14 and I am hoping to get one of the last builds before the SOP of MY15 . And it will definitely have m sport 704 suspension.

Yea, I think I have grown tired of the F30 interior. I totally love the interior of the F10, I was picking up my car from the service bay the other day and one of the m-sports sat near the cashier and man that thing looked flyyy. I sort of compromised last time getting the 328 because they gave me such a sweet deal but this time I am custom ordering to my specifications. I have thought about the 550i because it has a delta of roughly 5k above the 535i equipped the same. I will most likely go with the 535i because of the bigger discount off of msrp and the better fuel economy because I am averaging about 18 MPG on my 328i and want at least some decent economy. If its not enough I might go FBO and hope to achieve just under 5 seconds for a 0-60.

The OP is looking for something a bit "sporty" as he explained. The N55 provides a nice punch - 300hp/300tq - and it's also easily tuned for more power if desired. It's a pretty nice compromise between power and economy, as well, and it's clearly one of BMW's most attractive options here in the US... I don't know for certain, but I'm guessing on the F10 it's probably THE most popular engine in the US.

The 4-banger on the F10 just feels very lethargic to me - certainly a viable engine for hauling kids around and getting from point A to B, but it'll never make the car feel sporty.

Well I love the tuning ability of the I6 compared to the n20/n28 in the 528i and I dont know if a V8 will suit my needs(aside for performance), not to mention the horrible fuel economy. I feel like the n55 has a delicate balance between sporty driving and decent economy, not to mention less chances of me wanting to full throttle and end up in someones back yard.

Exactly EZMAASS the n55 is the flagship engine for BMW which is why there are more 535's on the road. The difference is only a few thousand equipped the same compared to the 550i . I will test drive both just in case, along with the 535d.
