Are their any alternatives for the diverter valves rather then stock?
I think mine are faulty. I can see visible cracks on each and I'm having some drive train malfunction issues. I'm pretty sure the heat cracked them, but dont know if they are the cause to my cars issues.

Instead of just replacing them for stock ones, Are their any better alternatives? or even cheaper ones?

I have cross reference over a couple that "MAY" work. But I am unsure.

Found an ebay listing, that has Alternative part numbers. I have No idea if those are accurate, But I searched each one and found a few that look exactly the same.

This is the one that looks almost identical the the oem one. And it claims it fits. I'm tempted to buy them but unsure if they will work.

Did some more digging.

Rockauto has some info. Still Unsure if it is accurate or not.

550i Base Model; OE; Mounts on the Turbo; Includes New Gasket.

So I google that part number and it takes me to the second link that I have posted.


I dont know what to think of it just yet, Maybe someone has the wrong part numbers. But the parts look identical!

EDIT:

Looking at the ECS picture, you can see the Pierburg logo clearly with the Pierburg part number. 7.01762.03
But that doesnt match the part number listed on rockauto :/

Pierburg is the OEM for them, and no there are no upgrades available for the elecromechanical portion of the valve itself.

I've never seen the housing crack on one before, I kinda doubt they are, pictures?

try OEM 11657990645. Hec lot more expensive (8 port mechanical/pneumatic sensors vs 4) can handle up to 3.5 bar equivalent to 36 psi. Designed for alpina turbos. No advantage installing unless you are running big turbos with more forced induction.

Their have been a couple of cases about them cracking due to heat. They have small hairline cracks which leaks air.

Well I finally went ahead and found a set online. Not to expensive at all.
$144.95 for a pair.

My Diverter valve were clearly cracked. I think this is a precaution and everyone needs to check into them.


I have yet to install my passanger side, but my driver side DV just fell apart when I removed. it

The pictures speak for themselves.

Adding to this :

11657990645 is the part number for the Alpina BOV that is on the Alpina N63TU engines.
11657602293 is the part number for Diverter valve used on all N63 engines even the Alpina N63 engine.

Can these actually be interchanged and if so would that entail a new tune? I'd love to know since that means the bigger/newer Alpina turbos can be fitted on older N63 engines.

Seems the diverter is really just for preventing catastrophic damage to the turbo, so switching to Blow Off should provide the same function minus the putting more air back into the intake side of the turbo

I ordered for my n63 turbos I believe be m5 diverter which is 11657601058 and for my alpina it came with the one flyboy listed so I ordered one of those for 320.

I need to check mine for cracks.

Do you have to remove the turbo to remove the diverter valve?

Yup well the passenger. The driver with stock diverter you probably can.

Wow, great find...I'm gonna need to check mine now. I planned on getting the GB DV+ but even then the stock housings need to be intact.

hello, I had that piece disconnected, rode the car for a few miles that can cause it to decompose, because I connect it and the car still does not enter the turbo? it is so sensitive that piece that decomposes if it is not connected and the vehicle is running?

Yes they DO. hence the part numbers mentioned above in the thread and I have physically seen it inside of a F10 M5 Engine Bay.

I don't know if it's the N63, N63TU, or both but their diverter valve is mounted directly on the turbo itself. The S63 (E70 X5M and E71 X6M) put the diverter valves onto the charge pipes just after the turbos and before the intercooler. The S63TU does NOT use diverter valves, it is all controlled by the DME and Valvetronic, hence why earlier S63's can't use S63TU charge pipes as an upgrade.

The part number warpeacelove posted cross-references on RealOEM.com as one that fits a 1 series...I'll believe RealOEM over ECS any day of the week. Not sure what you saw with your own eyes but I'd love to see you find proof of an S63TU diverter valve.
