550i Ordered
After a lot of hemming and hawing between the 535 and 550 I finally decided to go with the 550i mainly because the 4500 difference in price was well worth it. I am really excited about getting this car, its delivery date is June 19th which is in perfect time for my family road trip in July to Tuscany
550i Sedan Black Sapphire Black Dakota Leather Anthracite Headliner Cold Weather Package (wife won this battle) Dynamic Handling Package (must have) Sport Package (meh, must have to get IAS) Sport Automatic Transmission (must have) Integral Active Steering (must have) Ipod and USB Adaptor (in the end its always about the tunes) Rear Sunshades (wife won this battle for the kids, least it spares the merc and audi drivers the sight of being blasted while staring eye to eye with my nose pickers in the back seat ) I will only have a 2008 535 to compare it to (1st one made me a believer) but once I get it I will let you all know my thoughts and impressions, I am really looking forward to the suspension changes and how that feels at the 200kph to 240 kph range. Through reading, listening and demo'ing cars I have determined that BMW realizes there is a butt for every seat. Choose your options well to create the type of BMW you want, go lean get lean go bloated get bloated. Ciao. |

Thanks, I certainly will.
Even though my car has a Munich approved delivery date of 05-19-10 to my local German dealer in Landstuhl, I have to wait until 06-19-10 because I bought it under military/federal overseas purchase program and they are bound by US dates and the official release in US is 06-19-10. I wonder if I can look at it through the glass? |

Here in Germany from my local dealer, reason it is so important is that its well after my car will actually be ready for delivery, what is normally done is Munich holds on to the car until the date is close then delivers it to my local dealer to minimize their liability.
I was told, for US based sales no BMW can be delivered to the customer until that date, 06-19-10, even though I live in Germany I am buying a US spec 550i and fall within their release dates. |

Did you go by the dealer yet? Looking forward to the pics.
By the way, is the Sport Automatic 6 speed and the other auto is 8 speed? Congrats Last edited by Red Dragon; 05-20-2010 at 02:45 PM.. |

Just got an update today ... sitting on the factory distribution lot in Dingolfing, Germany. Was told it will sit there until a few days before 06-19-10 because my local German dealer wouldnt want the liability for any possible damage, etc.
I imagine if I went to Dingolfing which is like 4 hours from me, if they let me in, I would get lost in a sea of BMW's that I could potential buy the farm and go mad. Both are 8-speed, just one has a sport option which I chose to complete the "performance oriented" checklist, being only 500 I felt it a no brainer for me.
