Anthracite Headliner with Grey Interior?
I'm ordering my 2011 535i with the Dakota Everest Grey Leather and Anthracite Wood. The dashboard and areas above the wood on the doors (directly below the windows) are black; the seats and everything below the wood is gray.
Would you guys recommend the Anthracite headliner? I haven't found pics of it on a gray interior; on a tan it looks way too heavy like a looming cloud from above. Opinions appreciated! Phil |

In the opinion of this architect I would just go with the standard grey headliner that comes with Everest Grey. I based this upon doing a build on the 5 GT web page. I think that black and gray are not the best together.

Thanks for the opinion, I did the same as well! Building the 5 sedan on the UK doesn't really show the headliner, but building the 5 GT on the US site with the 360° really shows that the anthracite headliner looms over the rest of the interior.
PS - Congrats on your order as well! PPS - Have you seen the Fineline Anthracite wood in person? If so, is it dark gray/black or brown? I'm pretty sure I like that trim bisecting the black dash and grey everything else. The high gloss black option (plastic) looks hot in pics...but is prob cheap in person; too bad it isn't piano black wood! |

As I recall Fineline Anthracite is a gray black with fine line grain. I like that with your interior because it looks beautiful and is rare.

Pics!
Here it is as discussed (and built through the UK site)!
I wish the ceramic controls were an option on the 5 Sedan And it blows that the camera package isn't available until September. |

That looks spectacular. The Anthracite headliner would be wrong with that color scheme.

I've noticed that the standard headliner in the configurator is gray regardless of the interior color choice. Even with the venetian beige. Is this really the case, or just an error in the configurator?

The anthracite is black. It looks great coming up from the black dash, but looks a little heavy when the rest of the car is light (i.e. not black).

Venetian comes standard with the Oyster headliner and that is what is pictured in the configurator, but you can order the Anthracite headliner.

The Oyster Gray Headliner totally sucks with Venetian Beige.
Hopefully they will offer the Beige Headliner in the US. If they don't, I may end up with the Anthracite Headliner or go with the Oyster/Black interior. I would really like to do the beige leather with beige headliner.

Anthracite is the way to go with the venetian interior, but what does everyone think is the most appropriate headliner for the oyster/black interior?
The standard oyster, or the anthracite? For those of you who saw the show cars in NYC, what did they have for headliners? Thanks. |

Confusion reigns supreme. I received a beautiful mailer from BMW today because my lease will be up in July. It had a beautiful image of the F10 exterior with the dark gray metallic exterior. The text beneath it said European model shown. The interior was beige leather with the beige headliner. It looked really beautiful. The press cars that were available for test drives in Portugal had the beige leather with the oyster gray headliner. It did not look good to me. I called my dealer. They don't know what the US will get. Next week they will receive a 535 with the beige leather so I will know something then.

Another cool option would be the Oyster leather, oyster headliner and black BMW rubber mats.

After seeing the awful pictures of the venetian beige interior with the oyster/gray/whatever headliner, I don't think you can just trust BMW to get it right. |
