I've been driving the 535 all week (well, since I picked it up on Tuesday around lunch). It definitely doesn't pull as much.

I just got a call from my SA and my car is ready for pick up. They did the software upgrade and several other things and they claim my car is fixed. I won't have a chance to pick it up until tomorrow morning and I will report back if it is fixed and what exactly they did.

Sorry for the delayed follow up, but I did get my car back on Saturday after its latest visit to the dealer. The dealer did perform the software upgrade to my 528i concerning the "Drive Straight Retrofit". I guess the original Service Bulletin on this software upgrade only shows the problem and correction applicable to the 535i, but BMW did approve it for my 528i after the dealer opened PUMA case 49248108.

I did get the car on the highway today and it definitely is pulling a lot less. Before I would have to make constant corrections back to the left to keep my car in its lane, and it would take 2-3 seconds to get out of my lane. Now it might take 10-12 seconds at highway speeds to start to drift out of my lane.

I was impressed that my dealer (BMW of Houston North) did remove my aftermarket wheels and tires and replaced them with OEM wheels and tires and test drove the vehicle again and found the car was still pulling to the right. I think a lot of dealers would have tried to blaim the problem on the aftermarket wheels and tires. The dealer removed this variable then got BMW involved.

PM me if you need any other specifics about my repair.

I also had a slight pull to the right. The steering wheel should be kept about 10 - 15 degrees to the left on the level road. Dealer replaced control arm after ED. That fixed problem. Initially charged about $700, but refunded later.

The dealer performed the fix on my 550i last week so now it doesn't have that abrupt pull to the right anymore. I'm going to replace the springs so I'm wondering ifthat will cause the issue to return.

My 550 has been in the shop over the holiday weekend and they are doing the software fix. They failed to update the software after multiple attempts and have to engage BMW NA tech support but they don't go back to work until tomorrow.

I don't notice any more pulling to the right. "Straight Ahead Conversion" is what my work order quotes as the fix.

For what it's worth, the build date on my 535xi was 12/14 and it drives straight as an arrow.

OK, I have no idea what happened to my earlier post from about mid-December about my solution to this. I also had a slight pull to the right which was completely FIXED by putting a new winter tire/wheel set on my car. So I know the car is perfectly fine - the stock tires must have been defective! My car drives as straight as you can imagine now. I am so extremely happy, it's beyond belief. The pull, although slighty, was very annoying and I was conscious of it all the time. No more...

Fix 1: Software update (steering is now much tighter, and car pulls away from the crown - be it left or right)

Fix 2: New tires (and/or wheels - 19"+ will always be heavier and more susceptible to road crown)

I did #1 and am satisfied. I'll do #2 if I keep the car long enough.

I took my month old '11 535 for pulling issue and jittery/unsettling ride even over smooth roads. They came back with "rides like it should". I gave it another few weeks to see if anything changes but it didn't. Made another appointment and ask for the foreman to ride with me. He drove it, and said pulling to the right and your steering wheel is off center, I can fix that. He thinks some tires may have flat spots from the car sitting so long on the lot ( said common with 7 since they don't sell as much). He'll put the wheels on roadforce and replace what's not right. I was also a 100 miles away from not getting a free allignment, so don't wait too long if you think there are issues. My car was just over 1000 miles.
Anyway, car is going to be with them for 4 days, got a word I'm getting new front struts for pulling and readjusting the suspension, so not just a software update.
My point is to ask to ride with the shop foreman if possible and dont be a dick when presenting your problem. At least at my dealership, he said he will personally work on the car now that he's driven it. I told him I regretted my purchase more than once and that on occasion I wished I had 4 interconnected circles on the trunk instead of a roundel. He said give me some time to make it right and change your mind.
I'll update once I get the car back.

I just picked up my 2012 BMW 550i M-Sport (Dec 2011 build) last Saturday and noticed the infamous (although slight) veering to the right. I am wondering if the 2012 models have it as well. I just want to make sure I have not pysched myself out on this by reading the various threads on the issue.

Should there be no veering to the right at all. I checked it on a few different road surfaces and speeds and it does veer after about 5-10 seconds. Just to make sure I already scheduled an appt to take the car in.

Took mine in today- they tried a bunch of stuff with no result - said they would align tomorrow and try again and they also called BMW. Do I have to pay for the alignment?

Just took delivery of a new 550i M Sport. Has been pulling to the right almost since mile one. Going in for service soon so I'll advise on outcome. If you take your hand off the wheel you are completely into next lane in 4-5 seconds. Hopefully all the info I've found here will help them fix it immediately.

Just got it back- they aligned and said it fixed the problem. My wife and I immediately noticed the issue was still there but instead of leaving the lane in 2-3 seconds it was 3-4. If I drive on left leaning crown it will either track straight or start to pull left eventually but not as quick as right, depending on the severity of the crown and speed. I am going to call the SA and let him know.
