2015 f10 color choice

Wifes current car e60 platinum grey. She loves the color, and I agree, it looks fantastic.

Trying to pick out color for new F10. Dark Graphite, Space Grey (I really don't want that, it is what my X5 has), as far as the MSport goes. If she went with the Luxury, or maybe no line (i am planning on DHP so suspension would be same in any of the lines), she could also pick Castillo grey.

Any comments, or suggestions?

You can't go wrong with black - all BMWs look good in black... but that's coming from a guy who's owned black BMWs exclusively for 14 years. If you're going to freak out every time it gets slightly dirty, then maybe steer clear - otherwise, it's a very classy color (or lack thereof?) for the F10.

I like black but maintaining the colour is the problem, so I went for IMPERIAL BLUE METALLIC.

if you've got the money, Citrin Black (BMW individual ) is very nice indeed (I wish I had that!)

I have what is labelled as Dark Graphite in the US, which is quite a conservative colour but it does sparkle somewhat when the sun is out.

Suggest having a look through the colour threads on this website and get an idea.

Almost every BMW (and Porsche) ever made is black, white, silver, or grey. Try something else. I went with Tasman Green on my 2011.

Yes I see a 6 Series that is quite local to where I work regularly, it is simply quite stunning. Funnily enough I don't like the gloss version of this colour, can't remember the official name, but the frozen bronze is awesome.

If the OP is purchasing the car, and he plans to resell it at some point, it's a good idea for him to stick with mainstream colors. Resale is difficult on unpopular colors - agreed, many German luxury sedans will be black, grey, white, or silver... conservative colors for a generally conservatively styled car. Darker shades of blue are probably a decent bet if not choosing one of the above popular shades. Beyond that, I think you're stepping into more difficult resale territory. Greens, browns, orange/bronze, etc - several of these shades come in and out of favor and can look dated as a result. I can recall how teal was the "hot" color of the late 90's - everything from Chevy's to Audis, but it was a very unpopular color shortly thereafter... and ever since! I have a feeling we may be looking back on some of these colors like frozen bronze the same way in a few years.

On the other hand, if it's a lease, get whatever color you want... you'll be free of it within a few years either way at no additional expense!

I like Space Gray as it gives you a mixed of conservative and modern look. Plus it looks good at night while not being not too dark...imho.

I personally had a 11' 535i in Soohisto Grey (Dark Graphite in the US) it sparkled during the day and looked black at night... I loved it!

I know it is not the mainstream attitude, but personally I don't care what color someone else wants my car to be. I bought the car I wanted to buy. When the time comes someone else will buy it off me.

I used to say the same thing until I wanted to sell it. Then the only people that wants to buy your Speed Yellow or Neon Green cars are the broke low budget wannabes. So yes, someone will buy it for sure. But you have to substantially discount your car and deal with annoying folks who will haggle you for $20.

Or you can go to the dealer and do a trade-in. Guess what? dealers will discount your vehicle because it is an unpopular color too.

That's one way to look at it, and certainly you need to enjoy your purchase. It's all just a matter of knowing the trade-offs. Unpopular colors will yield lower returns later. Same is true for configuring a car in an unpopular way options-wise - it all has an impact on resale.

That is what you deserve for buying a neon green BMW.
