BMW M performance exhaust install 535XI ( Now with sound clips )
Rounded up all the parts to do the install. This has to be the easiest mod I have ever done to a car. Backed it up onto jack stands. Organized the tools, cut the pipes at the dimples, pulled out the old mufflers, clamped on the new mufflers. It took exactly 16 minutes from the time I rolled under the car to the point of driving it back off the ramps.
Bought the mufflers and one clamp through the forum. Bought the other clamp online from Statham BMW. And bought the M tips on ebay. All in for $700 It sounds great, especially in sport mode. In comfort mode it drones at 2000RPM. The best part is that my wife actually likes it. She stomped on it entering 95 last night, and loved the way it sounded. I'm waiting on the M tips. When I get them, I'll post final pictures. Backed onto the stands. Old exhaust. New ones installed. Last edited by gulfstream69xr7; 08-08-2016 at 07:00 PM.. |

Those are not the correct exhaust tips. I should have the BMW M tips on it shortly. There is no good way to adjust how far back they come without compromising the clamp seal. The rearward pipes are marked exactly where they need to be cut from the factory. Just cut and bolt on the new ones. Not much room for adjustment.

Awesome! Glad you were able to put that clamp to good use. I love my MPE as well; just enough grunt to hint it is not stock, but not obnoxious at all. In Sports mode the car sounds perfect. Get yourself a BMS intake and the sounds are even better!

Yes, the tips are on in the video. They are basically flush with the cut outs. I may play around with the setup to get it a bit further back, but I kind of like the stealth look. Picked up the tips on eBay.

@gulfstream69xr7: Which part#? The 535 had two different p/n groups available over its lifetime.
