Thanks for the reply Super6. I am seriously considering this mod, big improvement from stock. I am assuming the shop cut/alter the bumper to make it fit?

Yes, check out the pictures at the bottom of the first page. This mod is completely cosmetic, but it makes the car look way more aggressive. (Keep in mind I have a non M-sport rear bumper)

I'm definitely going to keep those tips in mind for my future set up

Anyone else know where I can more find tips like this? (One tip branches out to the side) Preferably 3.5" duals.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you have a stock muffler, you need that type of type to fit a M5 diffuser?
So 535i M Sport, no plans to change my muffler or delete it. Can I still use something like what is in the pic and if I can, where can I find these? And will this work with just the M5 diffuser or even this diffuser? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Unpainted-BM...p2054897.l4275

Guys:

if you want to switch to quad tips using the 550 diffuser you'll need to get "y" style tips rather than the ones posted by twelve535i because the cut-out on the 550 diffuser is exactly center of out port of the muffler. With the tips that have the second branching off of the side you will be off-centre.

My bad. I see you are talking about the m5 diffuser not the 550. Sorry.

Does anyone know where to find tips that are offset like the ones I posted?

http://www.amazon.com/Exhaust-Chrome...sdon+tips+left

Thats the link, but
1: Its not the right length
2. Its chrome plated.

You will have a hard time finding something the right length, that is the biggest challenge with this mod. With tips that are offset from the center, a muffler shop can cut the inlet down pretty close to the "split", but with this configuration it won't buy you much space. Think you would be better off going to a muffler shop, having them put your car on the lift, explain to them what you want to do and have them fabricate something. Most shops can make something to work, issue is what will it cost you?????

I thought about that but I have yet to find a shop that fabricates things to my expectations. Something is always slightly off or welds look like crap. I think I'm just going to have to go your route and buy a 550i diffuser.
A carbon fiber diffuser will probably cost me slightly more than having crooked custom piping made......

Hi sickwithit,

Did you end up getting it to fit?

No, I didn't. Basically, I ended up doing exactly what Shawn did here. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=700328

This requires getting the 550i diffuser.

:-(

Sorry to hear it was a wasted exercise with the the PP finned diffuser.

They still sell it as well, so it definitely should be a buyer beware!

Yeah, funny thing is they insisted it should fit even after I told them. To be perfectly honest, I didn't try to cut off parts of the diffuser to get it to fit or anything. I just sent it right back because I bought it with the understanding that it was made for this car. To their credit, they refunded me for the whole thing even though I ended up being out some $80 on the return shipping to HK.

Out of interest, what was out on their diffuser, such that it didn't fit (unless it's too complicated to describe!)?

Having looked around, Mercedes seem to use this off centre approach quite a lot.

For those who are more knowledgeable, any idea if this is workable?
