Might pull the trigger..
Alright guys here's the deal. Some loser ran a red light and hit my e60. It was my first car! Both cars were totaled.
Anyways my father is buying me a 2011 535i m sport. It's pretty cool and loaded. It's jet black. Build date is 6/22/2011. Any thing in particular I should look for? The guy says it has zero issues and he has all service records. He also says the numb steering wasn't a problem on his car as they fixed it before his was built. He says it drives like a champ and is mostly highway miles. Were early complaints on the f10 fixed by June 2011? What should I look for while inspecting the car and driving. My dad is a master mechanic with a bunch f shops and he's very knowledgable in cars. |

Someone who's been around the F10 longer than I have can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anything was addressed with the steering until the 2014 LCI. I was considering buying last year and drove the 2013's. The steering was completely different feeling to me than my 2014, which is LCI.

While I know many people on this board have 2011's without significant problems, a good rule of thumb may just be to stick away from the 1st or even 2nd year of production to allow a manufacturer some time to work out kinks.

Consider it more like 4.5 years as it's probably a good idea to stay away from the first two model years so they can work out kinks. I think the LCI is a good time to buy - not "old hat" yet, but also enough time to get most important fixes and revisions into the car.
