1.5MM

pay off the house
pay off the car and truck
buy 2 acres out in the country with a modest 3500sqft one story house with an outdoor basketball court
stay at work making 100K a year
save the rest and take extended vacations each year.

1.5MM would not allow most people to just quit their jobs.

i "think" i'd quit with 5MM though....

with 4 or 5MM, my wife and i could live off of $150K a year for the next 15 years and still have 2.25MM left over.....i'd be 47 years old with my son in college and my daughter graduating high school....

Although Wachovia is now part of Wells Fargo most Wachovia broker still let you know they came from Wachovia instead of Wells Fargo.

It the same with former Paine Webber advisors that are now part of UBS or old Merrill Lynch guys.

The take away was that he looks for and interview as many advisors as he can so he can find the person he is most comfortable with.

Seriously, with that kind of cash sitting in an account, you should be talking to a wealth management specialist.
+1. PM me if you need any advice. I run a wealth management firm in Denver, CO and work with HNW individuals and families across the country.

I don't know your particular circumstances, but I would generally advise against spending it on discretionary items. I mostly prefer having money over having stuff...

The best thing you could do is buy a few condos rent them out to hooker and collect blow...wait mind in gutter.
But no really if 1.5 mill fell on me....hey stranger shit has fallen on me....that's what I would buy right now. Property is cheap and rent is high.
And say it with me Tax write off!

You speak as if farms that produce food were "free" investment ventures. No. To produce food on these massive properties (which is overkill for any individual, unless you were to build a farm on this) would cost a lot of money. So no, not free food. Second, in reference to your 'unlimited space' sell-feature, how do you go about fencing off these things? Ridiculous post for the OP. It appears you're also a troll. 0 posts, no credibility.

I'm not sure what I would do exactly, but I would definitely do something that would produce passive income.

I just heard from a coworker the other day that another employee hit $3 million on a $20 scratch off, which works out to be around $1.8 million after taxes.. I think she's in her early 50's, with proper planning she could retire and collect part of her pension and never need to work again.
