Gas Pump Keeps Shutting Off

Hey all,

I'm having a problem where I am unable to fill up the fuel tank in one go. Within a few seconds of starting to fill, pressure builds up in the filler neck and the gasoline pump shuts off automatically. When I remove the pump, I can see a fuel mist so it seems the high pressure started to condense the fuel vapor. I can fill up the tank if I restart about 10 times but I can only fill a bit over 1 gallon at a time.

I've tried different pumps at Costco, BP, and Shell and the same issue happens at pumps I've never a problem with before. Looks like the breather/ventilation valve might be bad. Has anyone had this issue before and what was the fix?

Might be coincidental, but I removed the fuel system fuses 135, 139, and 184 recently to prime the oil pump in the car since it had been sitting for 6+ months without starting. I only noticed the fuel filling issue when I tried filling up for the first time since then. The fuses are seated properly and not blown - no codes or check engine lights either.

TIA

Had that issue off and on at COSTCO with our last car. According to the attendant it is caused by the high-flow nozzles. The only way I could get it to work after the premature shut-off was to hold the handle at a really slow flow. Took f-o-r-e-v-e-r but didn't shut-off until the tank was full. It has happened on both our 535's, but rarely.
