IDrive Acting Up . Please Help =(
Hey Guys,
My iDrive on my 550i has been acting up. I tried to pair my iPhone 7+ with bluetooth but no luck. Keep giving error pairing unable for me to create a passcode. I thought it was a software issue. I went to bmw.com/update site and got the new bin file. Uploaded and updated the software and after it was complete, I still have no luck pairing my phone to bluetooth. Also, now the iDrive randomly keeps going to CD/Multimedia modes while listening to radio etc. For examply, radio is on and all of a sudden, it will go to "external device" mode on the screen. Even if that mode wasn't selected and there's no USB connected. It does this non stop randomly. I have tried to restore old version update, reboot idrive by holding power button for 30 secs and nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated. This is driving me nuts |

I would have to agree that you have an IDrive problem. Before determining it is a hardware problem I would first update your IDrive version. If you are capable it can be done on your own. See the coding forum for more info. Otherwise it will be a trip to the dealer, with some expense.

I had a similar problem and replacing the idrive controller solved it. No other fix.
